Tazewell Co VA records show a Nancy Blackwell marrying (1) Abednigo White 27 Jul 1815 (2)Robert Young 25 May 1820. Nancy was last found living with her daughter Julianna Ogle in Sullivan Co MO in 1850. A Betsey Blackwell married Charles Pleasant 2 Mar 1812 also in Tazewell, nothing further found on her.Could William, Betsey and Nancy be brother and sisters. Looking for Parents. Thanks.

Abingdon VA was originally named "Black's Fort" in honor of Capt. Joseph Black who fought at the Battle of King's Mountain during the Revolution. Capt Black subsequently moved to Tennessee. POSSIBLE WASHINGTON CO, VA OR SULLIVAN CO, TN ANCESTOR I am searching for information on John REED (b. 2-18-1776 in PA emigrated to Virginia prior to 1807, married in Virginia by 1807 when first-born son, James Reed (1807-1876) was born. An article in Jacob Whittemore Reed's The Reed Family in the United States (1861) says that "John Reed was born February the 18th 1776 and married Miss Bishop in Virginia. He lived in several states before moving to Alabama where he died in a yellow fever epidepmic as did also several of his children.' From other sources, I have located John Reed (Read) in Lawrence County, Alabama by 1830 (per census) and have identified some of his children: 1. James (b 1807 VA-1876) grocer, Missouri City, Missouri 2. Thomas C. (1915-1883) partner with brother James in grocery store m. Nancy Pitts Ray County, MO 3. William B. (b. 1815 TN-d. 1861 Lawrence Co AL); and 4. Isaac Pearson Reed (b. 1814 TN-d. 1888 Gober, Fannin Co, TX) Have much information on William Reed's line and Isaac P. Reed's line & will exchange. Have already used 1790 (reconstructed) U.S. Census and 1810 Census for all heads of families named "Reed (all spellings)" and "Bishop" without locating County of Marriage, have checked all known marriage records printed in collection of VA Historical Library for Reed- -Bishop marriages without success. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi List, I have just learned that I had one of my Ancestors settled in Washington County, Viginia in about 1725. His name is Owen Davidson born about 1695 in Scotland. Can't find out anything on him and could really use some help. He came there in Jan. 1716 and was a Jacobite and was captured at the 1715 Rebellion upraising. Was sent to Virginia as un-indentured prisoner along with 112 others, which is not bad. He could have bought land there or something else.
