Armistice Day Celebration

Splendid all-day program arranged
Local organizations to participate in Armistice Day Celebration.

    Seguin will celebrate Armistice Day, Friday, Nov. 11th, in a most appropriate manner according to arrangements made by committees from Chamber of Commerce, Fire Department and American Legion.
    The first meeting of the above orgainzations was held in the Chamber of Commerce office last Friday night at which time it was decided to have the celebration and a committee from each order was appointed to arrange the program, etc.
    At a meeting of this committee Wednesday night the program was arranged ond Committees to have charge were selected.
    The program will last the entire day, starting with flag raising and salute on the public square at 6 a.m.
    The observance of this day is fitting.  In all nations of the world, from the largestcities to the small villiages, people will celebrate the ceasing of hostilities of the greatest war in all history.  On that day, in Arlington National Cemetery, in the presence of leading statesmen and soldiers of the Allied Nations, an unknow American soldier, picked from among those who fell in defense of the country, will be buried with exceptional honors.  We can not all be present at this scene but we can.  In our own home towns, rededicate our lives to our county, the country for which many others havefought and died, by joining in the programs of patrotic exercises which have been arranged.
    The followingis the program for the day:  
6 a.m. - Flag raising and Salute on the public Square.
8:30 a.m. - American Legion annual election of officers.
10 a.m. - Grand Procession, to start from High School and march around the public square; those participating, High, City, and Rural school children and teachers, College students, Lodges, Red Cross and Blue Cross, Churches and other organizations.
11 a.m. - Joint Memorial Services on the Public Square, all ministers of the city taking part.
12 to 12:02 p.m. - All bow in silent prayer as requested in President Harding's proclamation.
1:30 to 4 p.m. - Concerts by Band and Choral Club, Public Speaking, Firemen's Drill and Water Display.
4 p.m. - Football Game, Lutherean College vs. Stockdale.
    The  American  Legion will hold an open house all day in their new home in the Klein building.

Memorial Services - John C. Campbell, E. F. Schuessler, Theo. Janssen, T. R. Prescott, R. C. Talbot,  M. Griffiths and Father Huechemer.
Fireman's Display - Goe. Draeger, Ad. Solmky and Hy Aubel.
Legion Contest - T. McNamara, Professors Nelson  and Henning.
Choral  Club -  Leo  Coers and Oscar Welgang
Dance - Alvin Brodt   
Officers of the Day - Geo. Draeger and Pat Lewis
All the above committees, and those appointed later, will meet in the new American Legion Hall Tuesday, Nov. 1 to discuss important business.
