Quarantine Raised 1912

Quarantine Raised Tuesday

The City Council and County Commissioners held a joint meeting last Friday afternoon and decided, that owing to the prevalence of meningitis in various parts of Texas, it would be wise to quarantine Guadalupe County against eh world, until situation should be better settled.
Gaurds were placed at the depot and main roads leading into the county and people requested to remain on their own premises, awaiting developments.  The majority cheerfully complied with the requirements, realizing that conditions which were made to protect others, would, if the situation were reversed, protect them.
However, no new cases of the disease were reported in this part of the state and it was deemed advisable to raise the quarantine Tuesday afternoon; requiring those who enter the town to declare they had not been exposed to the disease.
