Man of the year As we approach
the close of another year in the world of sports, lets look back to the
1946 sports season and pick the 'Men of the Year' in Guadalupe
County Sports. Our candidates:
Best Male sport fan: Harry Mace Best Female sport fan: Mrs. Paul Goetz The individual who has contributed most to raise the standards of county sports: J. J. Ryan Most Underrated Athlete in 1946: Freddy Knuepper Best Team Sponsor: Baenzinger's Red & White The Man with Biggest Feet: Bill Jablonowski (he's stepped on more toes than anyone else.) Most Absent-minded Hunter: Richard Jung (he went deer hunting; but left his shells at home.) Biggest Sports Contest of the Year: Seguin Matadors' win over the San Marcos Rattlers. Newspaper with the best sports coverage in county: Guadalupe Gazette Bulletin (advertising) Sorriest Sports in Seguin: Those who bet against the Matadors during the grid season.
