Bathing Beauty Revue

Bathing Beauty Revue
Seguin further enhanced its reputation as the bathing beauty center of South Texas last Thursday evening, when its annual July Fourth Bathing Beauty Revue drew 28 entries from all over South Texas.  In addition, another q4 beauties took part in a beauty contest in connection with the Airport Dedication and Air Show earlier in the day at Seguin Airport.
People swarmed all over Seguin Airport during the day despite the hot July sun, to witness various events on the dedication program.  Guest of honor was Seguin war hero, Lt. Col. Alvin Mueller, holder of the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Purple Heart and other decorations.  Mueller was introduced by Mayor Roger Moore and made a brief address to the gathering, in which he lauded the efforts of the management to make Seguin's airport something of unusual value to the community.
Government and commercial plane exhibits, a barbecue dinner, the beauty contest, etc. added zest to the airport program.
By evening, the town was filled with thousands of visitors, who added their volume to the thousands already in town for the air show.  All moved to Starcke Park, where despite an extra police detail, parking troubles mounted and more cars desired entrance than the space would accommodate.
The Starcke Park crowd was estimated from 12,000 to 15,000 people, who watched the 28 beauties parade in the beauty revue, which was won by Miss San Antonio, Anne Hugman, 19 years old, of 108 Fir St.  She had been nominated to represent San Antonio only after a huge elimination contest staged at Tech Field baseball park, at the ball game Saturday night.
At the airport beauty show, 14 beautiful girls made the judging tough, at least six of them were called back to the platform almost equal in the opinion of the judges. The nod finally went to Miss Diane Otto, of San Antonio.
After the bathing beauty contest at the  park, an intermission followed, and later in the evening a floor show, a street dance and fireworks followed, all well attended by the huge holiday crowd.
Mayor Roger Moore, Park Supt. Paul Fritz, their aides and the police department all deserve the plaudits of the citizens for a big job well done.
