(I have just started researching the Klappenbach line, but I think there are more siblings.) Most information found http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=dickvb&id=I8269
and http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=dickvb&id=I8272 and family information confirmed from Comal County Censuses; German (now First) Protestant Church records; "New Braunfels: The First Founders" by Everett Fey Vols. I and II; and Comal County Cemetery records.
I'm just a beginner, but at least Franziska Voelcker has more info. She was my great great aunt, since I am a descendant of her brother Julius. By
the way thans again for helping me remove my married and maiden name from the comal? county web site.

Leaving the three girls who were taken in by Pastor Ervendberg, founder of the 1st orphanage in Texas. Bertha died at the orphanage in Gruene. Lisette married Hans von SPECHT and settled at Spring Branch. Nathalia [my 3rd great-grandmother] married Heinrich LIESMANN and settled at Twin Sisters.

First I just wanted to say thanks, your website is a wonderful resource.
On the 1845-46 Deaths page you mention wanting Birth/Death info for
those listed.  I can provide that for my two ancestors.
My ancestors are Carl & Catherine Eberling (listed as Ebeling on your site).
Carl Conrad Eberling was born 24 May 1794 in Dillenburg, Nassau he
died 23 Aug 1846 in New Braunfels, TX.
His wife Catherine (Katharina Sophie Elisabeth Augier) was born 4 Dec
1796 in Dillenburg, Nassau, she died 20 Sep 1846 in New Braunfels, TX.
Hope that info is of use.
Thanks again,
Brian Eberling

My great great Uncle, August Habermann, born 1837 in GER, served as a
private in Capt. Gustav Hoffman's Cavalry Company.  He was killed in the
battle of Glorieta Pass in New Mexico.

His brother, Julius Habermann was in your list of Comal Co. militia he¹s
my great great grandfather and is buried in the New Braunfels Cemetery.

Sarah, thanks for your concern about the cemetery.  I first visited it
about 20 years ago in search of my husband's great-great-great
grandfather, Johann Adam Doell.  He died during the cholera epidemic of
1846 in New Braunfels.  He is buried in the mass grave in this
cemetery.  At that time, you could still go to the church and look
through the record book of those buried in the mass grave - he is listed
as Johann Adam Toell, age 46 from Rosa, Germany.  I have a book on old
German script and often times the "D" was anglicized as a "T" depending
on who was doing the translating.

I will help you in any way you suggest in getting a monument established
to honor those brave souls.

I have a similar situation in Gillespie County with a cemetery that sits
just across the creek for the Luckenbach Dance Hall - for years I have
tried to get the historial group to take an interest it - have even
offered to fund the restoration of it - but no one seems to know about
the cemetery or care if it is recorded so I know the frustration you
feel.  I visited that cemetery also for the first time about 20 years
ago - the river has risen several times in the last 10 years and all the
headstones that were left standing are now in pieces buried in
undergrowth.  It is such a shame.
