Allison's Restaurant

Fond Memories
My first trip to Greenfield
***
I was first introduced to Allison's Restaurant in 1983 by my Aunt Pauline (Grooms) & Uncle Willard Drewry and Cousin Ruth.

Cousin Ruth (Swindell) Nobrega of California was coming to visit for a few days and then we were going to drive her up to Greenfield so she could introduce me to my Greenfield Kinfolk  whom I had never met before.

One day I get a call from Uncle Willard. He wanted to know if there would be room in our car to take him and Aunt Pauline with us to Greenfield.  I said, "sure."  He kept telling me not to bring any food, that we would eat at Allison's.  Uncle Willard loved Allison's, always brought home an extra whole pie or two.  Their country buffet was great and we had many meals over the years with Greenfield Kinfolk there before it closed for good. We Memphis cousins come up to Greenfield several times a year for a girls day out - put flowers on our kinfolks tombstones, visit the Kellwood outlet, and eat lunch at Allison's, usually inviting all the Greenfield cousins available to join us.   One beautiful October day we stopped at Allison's when we first arrived in Greenfield for a cup of coffee. The smell of fresh baked pies greeted us as we stepped inside the restaurant.  They were fresh, warm, just out of the oven, chocolate and coconut cream pies with fluffy white topping at least 3 inches high, we couldn't resist....mmmm good. I was told by cousins that whenever there was a family funeral, Allison's always sent over some food......MaryCarol
