Military Funeral Held for Soldier Killed in Action

A military funeral for T-5 Neal Williamson, killed in action in Luxembourg in the last World War, was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Primitive Baptist Church.
The body of Sgt. Williamson arrived at the Greenfield Undertaking Company Monday noon from the Memphis General Depot. An individual military escort accompanied the casket. Sgt. Williamson was killed December 22, 1944. His body was returned to the United States from the Hamm Cemetery, Luxembourg. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Williamson; a brother, Early Williamson, and a sister, Mrs. F.E. Griffith. The Veterans of Foreign Wars had charge of funeral arrangements. Rev. B.D. Bryant and Rev. K.L. Moore conducted the services before the flag draped casket. Members of the VFW, attending the services in uniform, marched from the church to the south end of Front Street in the procession to the cemetery. Interment was in Highland Cemetery with the soft sounds of "Taps" for the departed soldier. Sgt. Williamson was 33 years old at the time of his death. Pallbearers were J.D. Adams, Edward Maness, Herbert LeCornu, Odie Garner, Howard Caudle and J.C. Knox.
