This picture was taken circa 1947-1948 school year at Terrell School, Lower Sharon Road, Dresden.  Blanch Brasfield was the teacher.  The school had two rooms, but only one room was used for teaching the last few years.  Terrell was located 1.5 miles off Greenfield Hwy 54; the structure is no longer standing.  The school closed at end of school year 1949-50.  Mignon Mayo Kelley was the last teacher.

I started school there in Fall 1945; my parents, Lewis and Mary Coleman Garner, sent me to Dresden Elementary School at the beginning of my 5th grade year in 1948.  I had been promoted from 3rd Grade to 5th Grade by Mrs. Blanch.  My father went from one through eight grades of schooling at Terrell, going through the Eighth Grade a number of times because he did not have means to go to high school.
