State of Tennessee Weakley County 
13th October 1832                             

On this day personally appeared in open court before the court of plea & probate decision, for the county & state of, now sitting Kinchen Killabrew a resident of the county of Weakley & state of Tennessee, aged seventy five, being duly sworn according to the law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefits of the act of congress passed June the 7th 1832. That he entered the service of the United States as a volunteer & served as herein stated that he entered service of the United States in the State of North Carolina and his first campaign commenced on March 1776 under General Sumpter, Cols. Lang & Capt. Whitacare and served a tour of duty of fifteen days against the Tories, the affiant was raised in the County of Halifax from where he started upon his tour of duty. In May of the same year he served in the capacity of a volunteer as of, his second campaign which was a tour of three months under General Ash, Cols. Dasheer & Gee & Capt. Dawson, that he got a discharge from his officers for this tour of duty but has long since lost it, that in March1781 he again served another three months tour of duty under General Butler, Cols. Hill & Linsey & Capt. H. Philips, that he started from Halifax County marched through Orange and Guilford counties, was three months on this tour & got a discharge from his Capt. but, which he has long since lost. He states that in the interim between his campaign of 1776 to his last campaign in 1781 he belonged to a volunteer company & held himself always in readiness to perform any duty he might be requested to do in the service of his country. The Officers under whom he was enrolled as a volunteer were Cols. Hart & Capt. Bell & often went in sequacity parties a few days at a time against the Tories. That he regularly attended the muster properly equipt and ready for active duty. He states that he no documentary testimony relative to his service, & he knows of no personal testimony he can procure to his case testify to his service, his place of residence is now the county of Weakley State of Tennessee. He hereby relinquishes every claim whatsoever to a pension or amount, except the present & declares that his name is not on the pension rolls of the aging of any state, sworn to and subscribed the day & year of

We Sam Gowan clergyman residing in the county of Henry & Thomas R. David a clergyman residing in the same county hereby certify that we are well acquainted with Kinchen Killabrew who has subscribed and sworn to the above declaration, that we believe him to be seventy five years of age the he is reputed volunteer in the neighborhood where he resides to have been a soldier of the Revolution & that we concur in that opinion.

The court proceeded to put the interrogation sworn in XXXX required in the declaration of the secretary of war & the substance of the answers are in the foregoing declaration of the applicant, and the court do also further certify that they concur in the opinion of the foregoing officiates they are also certify that they are aquatinted with the two clergyman on who have above certified & that they are now ministers in their represented churches.

State of Tennessee - personally appeared Thomas Ross a minister of the gospel - and James Ridgeway a respectable citizen of said county 
County of Weakley - and made oath in due form of the law that they have known 

Kinchen Killabrew who makes the present application for a pension that they believe he was a soldier of the Revolution as stated in his declaration.

And the said court of Weakley County do hereby declare the opinion after the investigation of the matter and after putting the interrogation prescribed by the was department, that the above named applicant Kinchen Killabrew was a Revolutionary Soldier and served as he states and the court further certifies that it appears to thus that Thomas Ross who signed the proceedings certificate is a clergyman verdict in said county of Weakley and that James Ridgeway who also signed the same is a respectable citizen of said county and a credible person and that their statements are entitled credit.
