McNairy County Pioneer Has 234 Direct Descendants

SELMER, Tenn., Sept. 17--At her home in Adamsville in McNairy County, Sunday, Aug. 28, Mrs. L. R. Littlefield celebrated her ninety-second birthday. The occasion was the annual family reunion which has been held for many years. She was the recipient of congratulations from hosts of friends and relatives. Mrs. Littlefield has retained her faculties to a remarkable degree and talks about pioneer days with much interest. She well remembers when the Indians were here. Mrs. Littlefield is the mother of 10 children. She has 77 grandchildren, 133 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. She is seen above with the five generations in her family, Mrs. Paralee Newell, aged 68, Van Newell, aged 45, Mrs. Hattie Meek, aged 23, and Hillard Meek, aged one year. This is the only McNairy County family known to have five generations.

My mother, Hazel Harris Gohr, was one of those 14 great-great grandchildren living at that time (more came later as this grandmother, Nancy A. (Woolverton) Littlefield lived until 1926).

FAMILY REUNION HELD BY PLUNK FAMILY

On Sunday, March 2, the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of the late W.B. Plunk and wife met at the home of Esquire O.L. Plunk and spent a very enjoyable day.
All were present with the exception of a son, Everett Plunk, wife, and son, of Meridian, Miss. Also a grandson, Clifford Plunk and family of Jackson. E.C. Holland and family, O.L. Plunk and family, Roy Miler and family of Bethel Springs, Joyce Holland and family, Carlos Holland and wife, Elvis Plunk and family of Finger, Wesley Wilbanks and wife of Tupelo, Miss, Otis Daniels and family and Miss Opal Plunk of Booneville, Miss. Other friends of the family present were D.W. Mason and family, Henry Plunk and family, Mr. Jack Gage, Mr. Robert Graskry, our efficient mail carrier and Miss Rachel Brown.
A sumptuous dinner was served on a table in the yard after which pictures were taken, lots of good music and singing was furnished by the different grandchildren thru-out the day, while the elders enjoyed the day immensely visiting with each other.

R. F. Bowers and wife had a family reunion at their home Sunday when all their children came home. They were, Mrs. Buford Dennie of Bethel Springs, Mrs. Jewell Phillips of Arkansas, Mrs. Monzel Glidwell and Mrs. Carl Hamm of Corinth, John Lewis Bowers of St. Louis, and Lula, who is the only one at home. Also a sister, Mrs. Maggie Townsley of Alabama, two brothers O. J. and Will Bowers and others enjoyed the occasion.

Mr. Tom Brewer Celebrates Birthday

The Children, friends and neighbors of Mr. Tom Brewer surprised  him
Sunday, Sept. 10th with a big dinner to celebrate his 82nd birthday,
which is Sept. 13th. unreadable, by the noon hour 50 people had come
to wish this old father and friend a happy birthday.  A  long  table
fairly grunted under its load of good things to eat.
Those present were: Mr. O. L. Landreth and family, Mr. J. P. Surratt
and family, Mr. J. B. Learue and family,  Mr.  Joe  Kirby,  Mr.  Sam
Kirby and family, Mr. Ross Stewart and family, Mr. and  Mrs.  Herman
O'Neal, Mrs. Ada Yancy, Mrs. Mary Harris, Mrs. Francis  Brewer,  Joe
Brewer, Doug Brewer,  Lewis  Harris,  Jack  Ferrell,  Miss.  Francis
Brewer, Blurnell Kirk, Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Landreth  and  son  Paul,
Mr. and Mrs. Odell Landreth and son Pershin.
The dinner was spread under a large tree in the yard of  the  Brewer
home. The crowd enjoyed a day immensely and hope to spend many  more
such days with Mr. Brewer.
