My name is Lyle Johnson I will be your host for your visit to Meade County. Meade County was formed in 1889 from Lawrence County. Land , probate, and court records date back to the county's formation in 1889. Sturgis the county seat was in the early days known as Key City of the Black Hills being the best route to the gold rush in Deadwood. Come join us on this historical journey.
