Query Posting Information and Links

In the interest of keeping the information that is posted here relevant and manageable,
please follow these simple guidelines when posting to Clarendon County:

To have your query posted:

As of August 6, 2009, I obtained a "new" email address as indicated by the graphic above.
I do not plan to post my "new" email address as a link due to spammers.
My old email address may appear on other linking pages.

Please type in the email address above when you want me to post a query.

Be sure that "Clarendon Query" is in the subject area of your message.

I coordinate the web pages for other counties, so I must know which county you want your query posted to, plus I am on a number of mailing lists so I tend to delete some of the of e-mails that clutter my mail box with out reading all of them unless the subject catches my attention. If "Clarendon Query" is not placed in the subject area, it might be deleted without being read because there are days when I get 100 or more messages. I just can't read all of them. Please grab my attention with your subject line. I don't want to delete your message by mistake.

I will let you know when I receive your query and when you can expect to see your query posted. When contacting me by mail, unless you include a self-address-stamped envelope, I cannot acknowledge the receipt of your letter. Please remember that I am a volunteer for the SCGenWeb project, and that I only post information to the web pages that I coordinate for others to view via the internet; I am not available for doing any personal research.

Please Remember

I am quite willing to share information on the surnames that I research, but please understand that I am an amatuer genealogist, researching my own family lines. I do not research other surnames. . Please, do not write to me asking me to do a "quick" lookup in something like a Clarendon County census or run to the courthouse for you and mail you a copy of a will.

I won't know anything about your family history unless we happen to share ancestors. I spend all of my spare time as a volunteer taking care of the Sumter, Clarendon, and Lee County SCGenWeb sites. What little spare time I have left, I devote to researching my own family tree, working as a teacher in Sumter County, sponsoring my schools First Priority and Math Clubs, and working with the South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Clarendon County has a wonderful archives with a knowledgeable and helpful archivist. Sumter County has one of the best local archives in the state of South Carolina and the courthouse has won awards for their preservation of old records. Since Clarendon County was once part of Old Sumter District, you will find a great deal of Clarendon County data in the Sumter Archives. If you need information about where to research here in Old Sumter District, just e-mail me. The Clarendon County Archives is also working very hard to build up a fantastic collection of materials.
