Kapernick -- Looking for information about Daniel Wesley McCain, b Bertie Township, Ontario 1840 d 1932 Humberstone, Welland, Ont. m 1863 Welland, Ont. Augusta Louise Kapernick b 1844 Ziegenhagen, Prussia d 1935 Humberstone, Welland, Ont. Both are buried in Oakwood Cemetery along with unmarried daughter, Jane (Addie) McCain.

Daniel is son of Charles (Wesley) McCain b abt 1803-22 Stevenville, Welland, Ontario d unknown m Joanna Buchner (daughter of Jacob) b 6-18-1820 Ireland d 1875 both buried Lyon's Creek Cemetery. They had two daughters in addition to Daniel: Priscilla McCain b 1-2-1842 m Edwin Brookfield and Deborah Jane McCain b 1844 Bertie, Humberstone, Welland, Ont. Charles and Joanna are mentioned in the Woodhouse Twp., Norfolk County, Upper Canada Long Point Settlers Genealogy.

Charles is son of William Cain (McCain) b Armagh County, Ireland and Elizabetha Ott b. 2-25-1792 Lehigh, PA (dau of Jacob Ott and Barbara Zavitz).
Augusta is daughter of Christian Friedrich Kapernick b 4-29-1810 Voigtsdorf, Mechlenburg-Strelitz, Germany and Charlotte ___________. She came to Canada with her parents in 1857.

Keefer -- Looking for information on George Keefer who came to Thorold in about 1790 from New Jersy Colony. I plan to be in Thorold next month and hope to find the cemetery where he is buried and the church that family history says has the bell dedicated to his memory. I understand that he had a mill. Is it still in existance? I also am looking for information on his son, James, who was born in Thorold but settled in Middlesex Co. Where are the best places to begin my research? Is anyone working on Keefers or on a Capt Cook who was the father of Maria Cook Keefer who married James? Jeanie

KEEFER -- I am seeking biographical information on Thomas COLTRIN KEEFER, born about 1821 in Ontario, Thorold possibly. Father is said by some records to be George Keefer who apparently married atleast 4 times. Kelly -- Looking for info on my wife's ggf, Walter Alfred KELLY, Sr. born in N. Ireland d. Canada, m Alice Goslin b. Winchester, England m. & d. St. Catharines, Lincoln County, Ontario,Canada in 1907. His son, Walter, Jr. was born November 15, 1891 in Ireland or England. Traveled with his family to Canada in 1896. After his mother died in 1907, he ran away from home and changed his name to Walter Alfred HOWARD. He married Hepzibah L. MANNING b. June 25, 1895 in London, England on April 4, 1918 in St. Catharines, Lincoln County, Ontario, Canada. My wifes family only found out a few years ago that the family name originally was KELLY. LAMB -- I am looking for information about my grandfather, Bud or Wellington Lamb. Bud was possibly his middle or nick name. Prior to 1924, he married Katherine Kelsey. They had 4 sons. Lambert -- Emily Lambert was born in Beamsville c. 1828. She married Robert M. Marsales in 1848 at St. Catherines, ON. They had at least six children (born in Beamsville, I think); Eva, Ethel, Frank Davis, Alfred John, Robert and Harry. Any information on the Lamberts would be appreciated -- we know nothing!

Lightfoot -- Three brothers, James Louis, Thomas Jefferson, & Samuel J. Lightfoot, all escaped slaves from Kentucky, made their way to Ontario. James Louis came here about 1830, the other two about 1835. There was one more un-named brother also in 1835. Samuel married twice, first wife before 1845, may have been Laura Anderson. In 1845 Samuel was living in Louth, and was married to his second wife, Ellen Wilkerson at St Andrews Church, Grimsby on Dec 21, 1845. James Louis Lightfoot was married to Jane McKeever, and Thomas Jefferson "George" Lightfoot was married to Jane Creswell. Looking for any info on these brothers, or any other Lightfoots in Flamborough, Dundas, Hamilton, or Niagara regions.

Lillie -- Margaret Raeburn Lillie, b. 1835 Guelp Twp., Wellington Co., married George Andrew Darby 2 June 1857. Their dau. Hannah Jane Darby b. 1858, d. 1941 Wellington Co. Who were the parents of George Andrew Darby? He died 1920, Margaret in 1913. Margaret the dau. of George A. Lillie (1793-1869) and Jean Rennie (1804-1883).

Lister -- John Lister. My grandfather moved to the niagara district around 1910 and lived there till his death in 1957 approx. He lived in Leeds England before moving to Niagra. He fought with the canadian forces in the first world war and recieved a medal of valor but I'm not sure which medal it was. His picture, along with my father(David Wilkie) and My uncle (Andy,Gump Lister)are present in the history of Niagara falls book. My grandfathers medal presentation was highlited in the N.F. review 1n the mid seventies. Itwas the column, it happened fifty years ago today. if you can find out any info on this presentation it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Lizmore -- Charles R. Lizmore born in New Brentford, Middlesex, England in 1825. Died in Niagara and buried in Fairview Cemetary. Someone by the name of Melanie Turner found the family bible and was seeking to get it to the family. I would like to know if anyone was called about it. Her address in Quebec is no longer valid. It was said she called in the Niagara Falls area looking for an owner. Thanks

Lock/Locke -- William John Frederick  Mohrhardt was born in Welland on March 9,1914 to Mr. & Mrs. Christy Mohrhardt. The mother's maiden name was Bertha Leona Locke and she was born in Tara, Ont. on April 3,1896. Her parents were Benjamin Locke and Mary Anne (nee Downie). There is a marriage record for Bertha Leona Locke and Charley Orvlle Davis of Grand Rapids, Michigan, being solemnized on Nov.27,1912 in Welland as well but no further reference to him and no record of marriage to Christy that I can find. Bertha would have been only 16 at the time of the marriage. There is mention of William Locke at 82 Division St. Welland in the census of 1911. Margaret Lock, 74 yr. old widow of German ancestry, born in Rural Ont. Aug. 10, 1826 Methodist religion, ran a boarding house at # 7, North side of Main St. in 1901 census of Welland. Hope someone can help with their connection to Bertha. Thanks again Ivy Mohrhardt PS I have found a Mohrhardt in Spring Lake, Michigan who says his grandfather was also Christy Mohrhardt and that he had a Canadian wife before marrying his grandmother.

McCain -- Charlie and Joanna Buchner, buried in Lyon's Creek Cemetery, need dates from tombstones, if present. Interested in any stories about Daniel Wesley McCain, Humberstone's oldest resident dies in 1931. Obituary mentions his construction business, active on school board, township of Cainville and McCain street named after him. He lived at 285 Main Street - is this home still standing? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Daniel Wesley McCain is my great grandfather; my grandfather is Hugh Lentz MCain, brother of Charles Wesley McCain.

McCormack/McCormick -- looking for any information of Thomas Martin McCormack, or McCormick who lived in St. Catharines from appro. 1854 and on, came from Roscommon County in Ireland with his mother Honoria McCormack or McCormick. Honoria died Feb. 14, 1867 and is buried in Victoria Lawn Cemetary. Any information would be appreciated.

McEuen/McEwen -- Looking for Rev John McEuen's mother. He was b. 9 Aug in either 1811, 1812 or 1813, depending on source. His father was Capt John McEwen of a Flank Co. of the First Lincoln Militia during 1812-1814. Capt. John also may have been Merchant John M'Euen of the firm M'Kean & M'Euen of Niagara. McSherry -- JAMES MCSHERRY, abt. 1824-1871. He was born in Ireland and came to Onterio with perhaps a cousin or brother named ANDREW MCSHERRY. He lived for quite a while in Lincoln Co., St. Catherine/St. David, Onterio, Canada. He was Westleyan Methodist. He invented the McSherry Plough, and had a plough factory called the "ST DAVID'S PLOUGH FACTORY" in about 1861. His wife Rebecca Sebey, was from NY and they had boys, JOHN, WILLIAM, GEORGE, HENRY, and daughters also. Their first child, Sarah McSherry was born in Niagra, Lincoln, Onterio, Canada abt. 1849. They were Blacksmiths and moved east, ending up around Port Stanley or Dunwick Twp., Elgin Co., Onterio, Canada, in about 1871. There I lost the family of boys, although I know William came to Michigan and became a Justice of the Peace. I know James' wife Rebecca, died in childbirth, or shortly thereafter, and I would like to know what happened to James McSherry. Does anyone know where theMCSHERRY'S came from in Ireland, or any ship passenger list which includes a James McSherry between 1824-1849. I am also very interested in finding the marriage of James McSherry and his wife, Rebecca Sebey. If you know anyone who can help me, I would love to hear from them. Miller --   A William Duff MILLER received a land (1 acre) from the Crown in the town of Niagara in 1822 (1acre). He had a will, made and probated in 1859, that transferred the lot. His birth year or age at death were not indicated. Beneficiaries were his wife Ann, brother Robert MILLER of Niagara, and sons William and John of Galt and Richard of St. Catherine's. There were also "daughters" whose names were not indicated. My question--should anyone's research perhaps include this family--was his mother's maiden name DUFF?...what was the "DUFF Connection"?
In the 1871 census Index, a hunt for "matches" and ages for those mentioned in the will uncovered these possibilities:  a Richard in St. Catherine's, age 53, barrister, Scotch, born ON; a William in Galt, a Judge, age 60, Scotch, born ON; and a William in Galt, baker, age 53, born Scotland.  an Ann Miller in Lincoln Co., a widow in Grimsby, age 62. If any of the above were sons of William Duff MILLER, it seems William may have been born around 1800.  Was William Duff MILLER perhaps a cousin of David DUFF (1805 born in ON-1880 died in IA) who lived in Woodhouse, Norfolk Co., ON from at least 1827 to 1850, at which time the family relocated to Winneshiek Co., IA? I would like to locate information on any relatives of David DUFF in order to try to determine his parentage and ancestry! David's obit in 1880 indicated that he was survived by "an elderly sister in Canada" and a brother (John DUFF born about 1810). It appears possible that David & John's--and the unnamed sister's--mother was Catherine RICHARDS who apparently was widowed by her DUFF husband ca 1810-1813, and subsequently married Jacob POTTS and lived in Woodhouse, Norfolk Co. Any input on this would be much appreciated!!

Morningstar -- Maria or Mary Morningstar was married to Martin Nef She died on Apr 23 1805. My notes say that Mary  was the cousing of Rachel Morgenstern but the history I have indicates Rachel didn't have any cousins. Any  info would be appreciated

MORRISON -- Great grandfather, THOMAS MORRISON, came to Ontario from Scotland. Unknown date. Married SARA ELIZABETH SOPER prior to 1880. Grandfather, WILLIAM HENRY MORRISON, born in St. Catharines, Ontario in 1880. Thomas died and Sara moved to U. S. between 180 and 1890. Thomas came to Canada with a brother (name unknown). Five other brothers (names unknown) moved to U. S. at same time from Scotland. Sara's second husband was DAVID BIGLOW, from U. S. I have no other information. Appreciate any help.

He was the son of John Murray, a military man from Sutherlandshire, Scotland who settled in the Streetsville/Caledon area around 1830. Rev. Oswald --Thomas Oswald, my gggf, was b. 1834 in Ireland and married Sarah __, (b. 1842 Ireland, d. 5 Jan. 1878) c. 1865; second wife was Margaret __, b. Scotland.  1855. Family resided in St. Catherines. Thomas  a constable and killed according to family tradition by a convict he was escorting on a train, on 27   March 1883. I seek more details on this event as  well as Sarah's maiden name and details of their  marriage. Children were Thomas, Mary Jane & Robert.
