James HURST in Niagara on 3 Nov 1794. I think she was b. in 1774 in Oxford, Sussex Co., NJ and was one of 12 children of David CAMP, originally from Aberdeen, Scotland, and was a UEL. Margaret Hurst, widow d. in Niagara 1848 and left property to her daughter Agnes MCEUEN Watts, wife of Jonathan. I think Agnes may have been Rev John MCEUEN's sister from wills and land records. I can find them in the 1871 census living in South Cayuga. I think I know where to look next for my gggrand mother (Mary Ann Barry), but not for my gggrandfather (Walter Mathew Carnes). I have come across some information that his parents were Mathew Carnes and Hannah Fathers. I have been able to find information on a Fathers family that leads back into Niagara Co but I don't know if this is the right line. I have also found information of a Fathers' marriage in Niagara Co abt 1796. During your research in the Niagara area have you ever run across the family name of Carnes or Fatahers. their 8 children to Fort Erie, possibly about 1816. He is listed in New
Boston Town Records as being a Lt. in 1810, and Capt., 1811-1815. Daniel
died 29 Dec 1847, and is buried in St. Paul's Anglican Church cemetery.

A Joseph CLENCH, Abraham SECORD and Serena CLENCH were sponsors at the baptism of William SECORD. Rev. John Strachan of St. James Anglican Church, Toronto (later St. James Church)journeyed to Port Talbot,in Dunwich Twp., Elgin County... where in Ancaster he baptized William SECORD on 5 June 1816, son of John and Janet SECORD. Who were the CLENCH's? A Ralph CLENCH is mentioned in regards to John and Henry NEAR. Ralph CLENCH is said to have signed a document verifying that John NEAR (of Humberstone)came to the area in August 1798. Believe Ralph CLENCH signed this document abt. July 1816. It was also signed by a Isaac SWAYZE. Can anyone tell me anything about the family of CLENCH, and what was their connection to the DARBY family? John (m. Catherine Browse), Adam, Henry and Mary (m. Herman Fisher) Cline came to Upper Canada circa 1799 and settled near Vineland. They came with a group of other families including Inglehart, Bowslaugh and Fisher. John and Catherine later settled in Halton Co. Their daughter, my GGGGGrandmother was named Julianna(Julia Ann) Corbit and was born in Welland, Lundy's Lane, Ontario March 22, 1804. This information from her Death Certificate in Michigan. She married in the Buffalo area in 1824 to a US 1812 veteran - DeGrummond. I would like to know the origin of her parents and their names. I am trying to trace the family of Alexander Dalrymple and Martha Cottinghame married in Toronto in July 1891. Alexander was born in Scotland in 1863. I don't know when he left Scotland or when, where he arrived in Canada. I have no knowledge of his wife Martha. I found some entries in the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid for Wainfleet, Welland which could be them. Anyone out there know what I do next? He was on the 1786 Victualing List of Loyalists at Niagara "in Mr. Tenbroeck's district" and the 1787 "of those who settled west of the 4 mile creek". [I am told, have not seen this myself] Also listed is a George DARBY - is this his son? John DARBY petitioned for land in 1796, "he had been a soldier in and during the whole length of the French-Indian war ending in 1764"... and had been a resident of the Niagara District "upwards of ten years." A John DARBIE is said to have held land under a Land Board Certificate, 18 Jan 1791, for Lot 14 in the Broken Front Concession 1, "124 acres in Grantham." We believe John DARBY's son was George DARBY, born ? 1764/66, married Margaret BOWMAN bef. 1790, possibly as early as 1785. Margaret BOWMAN was born abt. 1770 in NY or PA to George Adam BOWMAN and Ann Mary CONRAD. George and Margaret (BOWMAN) DARBY had ten children; Jacob 1792 - Mary 27 Nov 1793 - Henry 1795 - William 1797 - Priscilla 1799 - George Adam 1800 Ralfe Clench 1801 - Francis Gore 1803 - Peter Bowman 1805 - and John 1808. George DARBY died 7 Dec 1812 Grantham Twp. and Margaret (BOWMAN) DARBY died 21 May 1843 Grantham. Can anyone tell me where they might have been buried?
