From the pictures it appears that my mother, who was unmarried at the time, visited a family consisting of husband, wife, two daughters, and two sons. The attached snapshot shows my mother on the left. On the back is written "Paris, Ontario, Front of Station, July 29, 1923." I have several other snapshots but they do not provide any more information than these three. My mother was born 19 Nov. 1901, in Alberta, Louisiana. Her parents were William Jesse Hitt GRAY (b. 9 Nov. 1861, Lauderdale County, Mississippi) and Sarah Jane "Sallie John" DAVIS (b. 13 Mar 1865, Carthage, Mississippi). Her siblings were Jessie GRAY (b. 1889), Ben GRAY (b. 1892), Estelle GRAY (b. 1894), Paul GRAY (b. 1896), Lillian GRAY (b. 1898), and John GRAY (b. 1900). All were born in Louisiana. Her father's siblings were Mary Elizabeth GRAY (b. 1850, Alabama), John Franklin GRAY (b. 1851, Alabama), Thomas C. GRAY (b. 1853, Alabama), Nancy F. Emmaline GRAY (b. 1856, Mississippi), Ephraim Hugh Henry GRAY (b. 1857, Mississippi), Isabella Caroline GRAY (b. 1859, Mississippi), Sally Erian Jane GRAY (b. 1863, Mississippi), David W. GRAY (b. 1865), and Miriam Leona Viola GRAY (b. 1866, Mississippi). Her paternal grandparents were Hugh Roldon GRAY (b. ca. 1823, North Carolina) and Elizabeth J. BANKS (b. 1832, Alabama). Her maternal grandparents were Oliver Hazzard Perry DAVIS (b. 1814, Columbia County, Georgia) and Anna Elizabeth "Eliza" HENDRIX (b. 1828, Monroe County, Alabama). Although her mother, Sarah Jane "Sallie John" DAVIS, was the only child of this marriage, she did have half-siblings: Oliver Hazzard Perry DAVIS had previously been married to Sarah Julia Shelby Saxon MILLS, and four children were born of that marriage, but I do not know their names.

Thanks very much for your help. Bernard Barfoot
