Births prior to 1 JULY 1869
Civil registrations did not take place in Ontario. Church records may be found reporting baptisms, marriages and burials.

Hint:
Often but not always, the census and other records provide an indication of the family's religious denomination.

Births After Privacy Law Date

The Office of the Registrar General maintains birth registrations for 95 years, after this they are transferred to the Archives of Ontario.

You may only apply for a more current birth registration if:
    You are the Next-of-kin
    Executor or estate administrator
    The person is deceased (where you must submit proof of death)
