The records transcribed in this book were taken from four ledgers in the possession of the First United Methodist Church of Wellington. These books are mainly in decent condition. The older books have problems with faded ink and also the edges of the paper are flaking. These books contain the records of baptisms, marriages and a few deaths for the years between 1858 and 1974 with a gap of records from roughly 1924-1936. The Wellington Genealogy Group photographed all the material found in these four ledgers which included over 870 page or images and includes more information than what was transcribed. Included in the ledgers but not our transcription are lists of members, probationers and Sunday school members. The Church and the Wellington Genealogy Group both have these images on CD. Since we started our project in 2007, the church had their record books microfilmed. The microfilm "First United Methodist Church, Wellington, Ohio, 1858-1974" is available at the Herrick Memorial Library in Wellington and can also be ordered through a local Family History Center.
