Obituary Abstract

Carl G. Stockwell

Carl G. Stockwell

Carl Gene Stockwell, 81, formerly of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at Villa Spring Health Care Center in Erlanger, Ky.

His beloved wife, Joan (Jacobs) Stockwell; sister, Evelyn (Stockwell) Patton; and parents, Carl Guy Stockwell and Margene (Cailey) Stockwell, preceded him in death.

Carl is survived by his two sons,[omitted]; two daughters-in-law; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was a retired postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service in Lynchburg. He was a military veteran and served as a corporal in the U.S. Army in Germany and Austria during the Korean War period. He and his wife had a small antique business that they enjoyed in retirement. His interests, other than his family, were horseracing and spending time with his many friends, since he was so gregarious. He loved to laugh and have a good time and was a humble benefactor to those in need in his hometown for many years.

His wishes were to have a private family service in lieu of a public funeral. He will be interred at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Highland County.

Remembrances, in lieu of flowers, can be sent to your local Parkinson's disease chapter or Tri-State Parkinson's Wellness Chapter, University of Cincinnati, 260 Stetson St., Suite 2300, Cincinnati, Ohio 45267-0525.

The Dobbling, Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Homes are serving the family.
