Obituary
Charles D. Vance, son of William
and Elizabeth Vance, was born near New Market, Ohio, June
22, 1865 and departed this life at the home with his sister, Maude Harris,
December 9, 1947, at 11 A. M. aged 82 years, 5 months and 17 days.
He was united in marriage to Olive
Venetta Sanders December 12, 1901.
He leaves to mourn their loss, two
brothers, Harry and Louis Vance, one sister, Maude Harris, and a host of other relatives
and friends. Those having preceded him
were his wife, fives sisters and one brother.
The deceased united with the New
Market Baptist Church Saturday night, January 23, 1886 and remained a member
until the end.
His life was spent in the vicinity
of New Market, Highland County, Ohio were he lived and labored in such a manner
as to give evidence of an unselfish devotion to his wife, neighbors and all who
came within his sphere.
His cheerfulness invoked the thought
that many of the rough edges of life are in a great measure only apparent. Though generally he took life seriously he
could not but manifest his inherent sense of wit and humor.
There is not death! The stars go
down
To rise upon some other shore
And bright in heaven's jeweled
crown
They shine forevermore
And ever near us, though unseen
The dear immortal spirits tread
For all the boundless universe
Is life--there is no death.
