Obituary
Maud L. Vance Harris departed this
life April 8, 1960 aged 87 years, 4 months, 26 days.
Mrs. Harris was born Nov. 26, 1872
the daughter of William and Elizabeth McConnaughey
Vance. She was one of 11 children. All of her brothers and sisters have preceded
her in death.
Early in life she acknowledged
Christ as her Savoir and united with the New Market Baptist Church where she
was an active and faithful member all of her life. Her presence and encouragement and her work,
will be greatly missed.
She was united in marriage, Nov.
12, 1910 with Charles D. Harris, who preceded her in death, Dec. 6, 1938.
She leaves to mourn her passing
many nieces and nephews along with host of neighbors and friends.
Death itself, to her, was but
The wider opening to the door
That had been opening more and
more
Through-all her life and ne'er was
shut
And never shall be shut.
She left the door ajar for you and
me;
And looking after her,
We see the glory through the cleft.
