| Linda's maternal ancestors lived in Schuyler co., NY for 150 years, with 5-6 generations in the local cemeteries. Her Schuyler people came from Litchfield county, CT and Dutchess & Putnam counties, NY in the early 1800s (as did many Schuyler county settlers). Their surnames were Meeks (Mix), Stone, Stuart, Broas, Nicholson, Smith, Brown, Judd, Wyatt, Griffin, Knight, Bennett, Fosdick, Catlin, Beardsley, Hendrix, etc. Linda grew up in Ohio, but has lived in Ireland since 1992. Knowing little about her family history, she started researching on the internet in 1997 & knows the challenges faced by the long-distance researcher. She also has a website relating to her Zurbrick maiden name from Erie co., NY & has posted all her genealogy in a database there. In 1999 Linda was asked by the NY GenWeb State Coordinator to host the Schuyler Co., NY GenWeb site when it became necessary to start the site over from scratch. She was blessed to find some dedicated volunteers & contributors that made this site possible. |
