On this twenty fourth day of April 1818, before me the subscriber, First Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, in and for the said county of Onondaga, personally appears Ozias Northway aged fifty nine years, resident in the town of Onondaga in the said county, who being by me first duly sworn, according to law, doth on his oath, make the following declaration, in order to obtain the provision made by the late act of Congress, entitled "An act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the revolutionary war:" That the said Ozias Northway enlisted as a private soldier in November in the year 1775 at Simsbury in the State of Connecticut in the compnay commanded by Abel Pettibone in Col. Samuel Willis' Regiment of the Connecticut line; that he continued to serve in the said corps, or in the service of the United States until the last day of December 1776 when he was discharged from service in Peekskill in the State of New York that he was in the fires of Boston from his enlistment with the evaluation and was in the first company that broke ground on Brad____ _____ - he was after that on long Island and in the Retreat out of New York - then joined over into New Jersey and then ____ on the west side of the Hudson, to Mass, Peekskill and then _____ over to Peekskill and there built huts for winter quarters before he was discharged - his discharge is lost - and that he is in reduced circumstances, and stands in need of the assistance of his country for support; and that he has no other evidence now in his power of said services.

I, Joshua Forman First Judge, & c. as aforesaid, do certify, that it appears to my satisfaction that the said Ozias Northway did serve in the Revolutionary War, as stated in the preceding declaration, against the common enemy; And I now transmit the proceedings and testimony taken and had before me, to the Secretary for the Department of War, pursuant to the directions of the aforementioned Act of Congress. Sworn at Onondaga this twenty fourth day of April in the year 1818.

On the second day of December 1820, personally appeared in open court in the court of common pleas in and for the county of Onondaga, being a court of record proceeding according to the course of the common law, with a jurisdiction unlimited in point of amount, and keeping a record of their proceedings, Ozias Northway aged sixty two years, resident in Onondaga is said county, who, being first duly sworn according to law, doth on his oath declar that he served in the Revolutionary War as follows: That he enlisted in November in the year one thousand eight [sic] hundred and seventy five in the Company of Capt. Pettibone in the Regt. of Col. Samuel Willis,w as in the battle at Long Island & retreat of the army out of New York & was discharged in January in the year Eighteen [sic] hundred & seventy seven at Peekskill from the same company that he is a pensioner of the United States & his certificate is No. 5380.- and I do solemnly swear that I was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March, 1818; and that I have not since that time, by gift, sale, or in any manner, disposed of my property, or any part thereof, with intent thereby so to diminish it, as to bring myself within the provisions of an act of Congress, entitled "An act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States, in the Revolutionary War," passed on the 18th day of March, 1818; and that I have not, nor has any person in trust for me, any property or securities, contracts, or debts, due to me; nor have I any income other than what is contained in the schedule hereto annexed, and by me subscribed.

On this 17th day of March A.D. 1853, personally appeared before the undersigned a Surrogate at a Surrogate Court held within and for the county and state aforesaid Sarah Northway aged 77 seventy seven years, a resident of the town of Geddes in the county of Onondaga and state of New York who being duly sworn according to law, doth on her oath, make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress approved the 3d day of February, 1853.
Who says that she is the widow of Ozias Northway deceased, who was a private in the war of the Revolution, and was pensioned under the act of 18th March 1818 at the rate of $96 per annum, and was paid at the Albany NY agency.
She further declares that she was married to the said Ozias Northway on the 20th day of February 1815 in the town of Burlington in the county of Hartford in the state of Connecticut. That her name before her said marriage was Sarah Hamlin.
She further declares that her husband, the aforesaid Ozias Northway died in the town of Geddes in the county of Onondaga and state of New York on the 16th day of November 1831 that she was married to him at the time above stated. She further declares that she was a widow at the passage of the act, and is still a widow, and that she has never before made application for a pension. That after the death of her husband she drew the back pay to him belonging and that the proof of her marriage and of his death as then made is now on file at the Department as she believes.

On this 17th day of March A.D. 1853, personally appear before the undersigned, a Surrogate at a Surrogate's Court held within and for the county and state aforesaid, Clarissa Gridley aged sixty three years, a resident of Geddes in the county of Onondaga and state of New York who, being duly sworn according to law doth depose and say that she formerly resided in the Town of Burlington Hartford County and State of Connecticut, of the town of Pompey at that date but now LaFayette Onon Co. N.Y., that she was well acquainted with Ozias Northway and Sarah Hamlin, who resided in the Town of Burlington County of Hartford Connecticut in the year 1815, and previous to that date, she further says that she was present when Ozias Northway and Sarah Hamlin was married and was them married and that they were married in the Town of Burlington Hartford County Connecticut in the month of February, 1815.
Deponent further says that she is a sister of the above named Sarah Northway that she came from Hartford County Connecticut soon after the said Ozias & Sarah Northway came to this Onondaga County and that she came to this County in 1818, and has ever since resided with her sister the said Sarah Northway. That she was present at the time of the death of Ozias Northway and that he died in the Town of Geddes in said County in November 1831 and at his death he left the aforesaid Sarah Northway his widower and that she still remains his widow.
She further declairs that Ozias Northway was a pensioner of $96 per annum in his life time

On this 21st day of April A.D. 1855 before me DeWitt Markham a commissioner of Deeds within and for the county & State aforesaid personally appeared Sarah northway aged Seventy Eight years a resident of the Town of Geddes Onondaga County in the State of New York who being duly sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the Bounty Land to which she is entitled under the act of Congress approved March 3, 1855.
That she is the widow of Ozias Northway who was a private in the Revolutionary War that on account of the services of her husband the aforesaid Ozias Northway in said war she now receives a pension at the rate of $96.00 per annum under the 2d section of the act of February 3 1853 as will more fully appear by reference to the evidence now on file in the Pension office at Washington that the proof of her marriage with said Ozias Northway of his death is now on file in the said Pension office at Washington.
She further declares that she is now a widow, that she has never before applied for nor received any Bounty Land under this or any other Act of Congress-

Dear Madam:
I advise you from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim W. 2419, it appears that Ozias Northway enlisted at Simsbury, Connecticut, in November 1775, and served as a private in Captain Abel Pettibone's Company, Colonel Samuel Wyllys' Connecticut Regiment. He was at the battle of Long Island and served until December 31, 1776.
He was allowed pension on his application executed April 24, 1818, while living in Onondaga, New York.
He died at Geddes, New York, November 16, 1831, aged seventy-two years.
He married February 20, 1815, at Burlington, Connecticut, Sarah Hamlin, his second wife: (name of first not on record).
The widow, Sarah, was allowed pension on her application executed March 17, 1853, while living at Geddes, New York, aged seventy-seven years.
In 1820 he referred to his children, a boy aged eighteen years and a girl aged three years. It is also stated that he had children by his first wife, but no names are given.
