The Livingston County Genealogical Society

Who Are We?

The Livingston County Genealogical Society in a non-profit organization founded in 1979 (reorganized 1999), for the following purposes:

  • To promote, aid and encourage genealogical research.
  • To identify and record available genealogical records relating to Livingston County, New York.
  • To hold meetings, and conduct events and activities to further genealogical knowledge.

Membership is open to all persons interested in genealogy. The society meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M., usually in the Conklin Room of the Dansville Public Library, 200 Main Street, Dansville, New York. These regularly scheduled meetings are opened to the public. Special project meetings and activities may be scheduled throughout the year. We are also experimenting with an Internet Club site where members and guests can chat about Livingston County genealogy. Please join us!

Annual dues for the Society membership is $5 for individuals and $7 for families for the calendar year.

Members may file Ancestor Charts and Family Group Sheets which are cross indexed to a filecard system. Fee for non-members. Members are also entitled to hold office, vote on society business and to participate in all activities of the society.

The Dansville Public Library is the repository for many genealogical books on loan to them and for the ancestor charts received by the society. Please do not contact them for research. For more information about the society contact Lynne Brill or to join write to our Corresponding Secretary, Bill Shaver, 5 Elizabeth Street, Dansville, NY 14437.
