White, Peregrine Kirk - so named, but generally known as Kirk P. White-was born on the White homestead farm, on the Byron Road, November 24, 1839. This farm was purchased from the Holland Land Co. by his parents, Chester and Lucy (Topliff) White, who came from the New England States in an ox cart in 1816, and still remains in the possession of the family. Kirk P. White was educated at Albion College, in Michigan, and was a more than usually well-informed man. He was for many years one of the assessors of Batavia, and was a genial, kind-hearted man, greatly beloved and respected. In 1883 he was married to Sarah A., daughter of William and Elizabeth (Warren) White. The death of Mr. White occurred September 27, 1891, and his loss was universally deplored by all who knew him. He is survived by his widow and two sons, John and Peregrine. |
