Richard Stevens, an Englishman by birth, came to Oakfield in 1832, removed to Alabama, and died there at the age of 78 years. His children were James, Henry, George, Laonia, Fanny, Annie, Jane, Mary, and Thomas. Henry married Hannah, daughter of William Showerman. Their children were Levant, Nettie, and Henry E. The latter married Elizabeth, daughter of Arnold and Emily (Lewis) Plate, of Oakfield, and their children were Nellie I. (deceased) and Ellsworth, a resident of Oakfield.
