BIOGRAPHY

BENJAMIN F. SHOWERMAN - OF BETHANY NY

Showerman, Benjamin F., was born in Bethany, September 11, 1863. His father, J. M. Showerman, M.D., was a native of Cattaraugus, and his father, Peter Showerman, was a native of Albany county, where the family was among the pioneer settlers. Peter Showerman came to the town of Alexander in 1812, where he was a farmer; he married Roxanna Powers, a direct descendant of Hannah Dustin. J. M. Showerman studied medicine with Dr. John Baker, and was graduated from the Buffalo Medical Institute; he married Sarah, daughter of Ebenezer Thomas, and died May 25, 1899. B. F. Showerman was educated in the University of New York, graduating from the medical department in 1886. He immediately began his practice in Batavia, and in 1893 married Minne, daughter of William C. Simpson.
