Parker,
Orrin C.-The subject of this sketch was born March 29, 1838. He married
Melia A. Pember August 11, 1862. The same year he enlisted as a private
in the 129th NY Volunteers, but before the regiment left Lockport
for the front he was commissioned second lieutenant in Company G.
When this regiment was reorganized and became the 8th NY Heavy Artillery
he received the appointment as first lieutenant in the same company.
In December, 1864 he was made captain and transferred to Company E,
which he commanded until the close of the war. Captain Parker participated
with this famous regiment in all its campaigns, including Cold Harbor,
Reams Station and Appomattox. His army record was first class. He
was elected treasurer of Genesee County in 1875. He served seven years
as eminent commander of the Batavia Commandery No. 34 of the Knights
Templar. In late years Captain Parker has been engaged in farming. |
