BIOGRAPHY GEORGE B. PARISH - OF ALEXANDER, NY |
||
|
Parish,
George B., P.O. Alexander, NY, son of Isaac and Emeline (Howe) Parish,
was born in the town of Alexander, Genesee County, NY, April 21, 1846.
His father was born and spent his life as a farmer in that town, and
died in 1872. Mr. Parish had but very slight opportunities for obtaining
education, attending the common schools of his district for only a
few months during the winters. But by reading and observation he has
gained a store of general information, and has been for the past twenty
years one of the successful farmers of the town. On December 20, 1872,
Mr. Parish married Julia E., daughter of George W. and Phoebe A. (Bushnell)
Wing of Alexander; they have one daughter, Nettie E. Mrs. Parish died
December 28, 1898. Mr. Parish is a brother of the late William I.
Parish, who was a captain in the 9th NY Heavy Artillery during the
Civil War, and who afterwards served as sheriff of Genesee County.
Mr. Parish is a member of the Select Knights, and is highly respected. |
