BIOGRAPHY

PHILIP LUCKEL - OF BATAVIA, NY

Philip Luckel was born in Germany and came to America in 1854, settling in Batavia in 1855, where he has since resided. He is a tailor by trade, and has carried on that business most of the time. Charles W. Luckel, son of Philip, was born in Batavia, April 8, 1858. He learned the tailors' trade with his father, finishing in New York City. In 1884 he started in business for himself. He has been in the store at 30 Jackson Street since 1889, carrying on merchant tailoring. He carries a good line of foreign and domestic goods, giving employment to from 12 to 15 hands.
