Loveridge, Joel A., was born in Ogden, Monroe County, N. Y., April 13, 1856. His father, Loomis Loveridge (deceased), was a cousin of Prof. Elias Loomis of Yale College, the compiler of Loomis's Series of Mathematics. Loomis Loveridge married Emily, daughter of Judge William Butts, and through life was a farmer; he died in 1893. J. A. Loveridge was educated at Brockport Normal School and Eastman's Business College. He taught school for eighteen years, and in 1896 was elected school commissioner of Genesee County, receiving the largest vote ever given a candidate for that office. In 1881 Mr. Loveridge married Cora Van Saun; they have three children. Mr. Loveridge is giving his undivided attention to the duties. Source: |
