Brownson, Isaac, was born in Genesee County in 1819, a son of Gideon Brownson. Mr. Brownson worked in Mendon for some years, and was later engaged in business there. In 1861 he came to Rochester and opened a grocery store on Main street, east of the river. In 1867 he removed to Penfield, and in 1868 opened a store there, and postmaster for thirteen years, after which his daughter filled the office for three years. he has one son, Lewis, and two daughters.
