BIOGRAPHY

LIVENUS HALSTED - OF GENESEE COUNTY, NY

Halsted, Livenus S., P.O. Ray, N.Y., was born in the town of Lebanon, Dodge County, Wis., August 18, 1851. He is a son of Hiram Halsted, and grandson of David Halsted, both of whom were substantial citizens of high personal character. Hiram was a prominent farmer of Genesee County until his death, which occurred July 21, 1891. David, his father, died October 28, 1866. The wife of Hiram Haisted and mother of Livenus S., was Laura Sawens, who still survives. Livenus S. Halsted received a common school education, and for a time after his school days he was engaged in teaching, finally taking up agricultural pursuits, of which he has made a success. Personally he is frank, affable and of a generous nature, making many friends; and being now in the prime of life, with a vigorous constitution, he doubtless has before him years of usefulness and. honor. On March 2, 1874, he was married to Lucina E., daughter of Horace and Lucy (Durbon) Tinkham.
