Ferris, Arthur, was born in Batavia, N. Y., March 2, 1853, a son of Michael and Catherine (Dunphy) Ferris. His father was a native of Ireland and came to Batavia in 1846 and died in 1889. Arthur Ferris was educated in Batavia and in 1878 established the coal and wood business, in which he is now successfully engaged. In 1878 Mr. Ferris married Mary, daughter of Thomas Reynolds; they have three daughters: Theresa, Margaret and Anna. He is one of the two lay trustees of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic church, and he has taken an active interest in the work of the church, as well as that of the parochial school. Mr. Ferris has served as a trustee of the village of Batavia, and also of the New York State School for the Blind. Source:
