Elbert Olaf Farrar, born in Middletown Springs, Vt., June 17, 1846, was educated at Burr & Burton's Seminary, Manchester, Vt., and also at Fort Edward Collegiate Institute. He was admitted to the bar in 1872 in Dayton, Ohio. He went to Syracuse in the fall of 1874, living there until 1889, when he removed to Batavia. He was judge advocate in the 10th Brigade Staff, N. G. N. Y., with the rank of major, and was member of Assembly from the second Onondaga County district for the years 1882 and 1883. Source:
