Dodge, Erastus S., was born in Seneca County, N. Y., in 1818, and was brought to the town of Corfu, Genesee County, N. Y., the same year by his parents. He was educated in the common schools and learned the jeweler's trade, and was also a practicing dentist. In 1849 he married Caroline Wilson. For many years prior to his death he had carried on the jewelry store at the corner of Main and Jackson Streets, in Batavia Mr. Dodge was a man highly esteemed for his many good qualities; he was enterprising and progressive, was interested in all movements for the benefit of his village, and his death, which event occurred on May 19, 1830, was a loss to the community in general.
