Genealogy Jamboree to be Held!

The Genealogical Society of Davidson County will host its 1st Annual "Genealogy Jamboree" on Saturday, September 19, 2009 from 10am to 3pm. The purpose is to bring together in one place area societies & researchers in order to promote genealogical and historical information for those with an interest in learning more. The Davidson County Society along with Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, and Randolph Counties have committed to participate. Representatives from Davidson County [Lexington branch], High Point, & Davie County Library History Rooms will be in attendance to share resources available in their facilities. Individual participants sharing their research are Becky Lassiter [book on the Nifong family], Randy Hepler [20 yrs research on the 'old' Davidson County, NC families], Frances Tysinger Robinson [Tysinger Reunion and photos], Bonnie Jones [Snider, Briles, Lanning, & Swicegood families], Carol Howard [historical items], & Elizabeth Saunders [book of indexed records for Archdale Friends Mtg]. The location of this event will be at the Robbins Recreation Center at 512 S. Hargrave St [between W. 5th and W. 6th Avenues] in Lexington and is free to the public with plenty of parking available. The society is still seeking individuals or organizations who wish to share genealogical or historical data. At this time, I'm trying to reschedule work so I can attend this very important meeting. If you have any questions regarding this event, please contact Belinda Rodgers.
