Old Ledford Chapel Cemetery

Christopher Duaine and Mitchell Christopher Ledford

Christopher Duaine Ledford (son of Bobby Ledford) and his son,
Mitchell Christopher Ledford

Tombstone of Peter G. Ledford, Revolutionary War Soldier

Old handcarved stone of Peter G. Ledford

Bobby Ledford writes:
"Here are four images from the Old Ledford Chapel Cemetery on Jack Rabbit

Road, off State Road 175 which runs between Hiwassee, GA and U. S. 64, east of
Hayesville, NC.   This is the cemetery that was relocated from where it would have been in
the impoundment area of Lake Chatuge, when it was constructed in the 1940s.  I have other
images from this cemetery, as well as several images of the Ledford United Methodist Church,
which is along U. S. 64, east of Hayesville as well.  Two of the images from the
cemetery are of Peter G. Ledford's headstones (original stone and a later brass pillow);
you will recall that he is one of the Ledfords who served in the Revolutionary War.  Another one
is the elegant stone sign which marks and identifies the cemetery.  This is the same cemetery where my gggfather,
Jason Ledford and his
wife, Mary Ledford are buried."
