Hello,

My name is Mozelle P. Chason.  I am a resident of Sunflower County and I have been volunteering at the Drew Library, Sunflower County, MS.  While recently working there I found  a large box of papers on the history of Drew which were gathered for the Golden Anniversary of the town in 1948. I was granted permission to go through these papers and file them, and they are ready to go back to the library, but I see a lack in one area. Many families were responsible for the forming of this town, which actually began about two or three miles east in a place called Sandy Bayou, and only the coming of the railroad caused the forming of the town in the present location. There are several family histories in these papers, but several more families need to be included.
If you are sure your family lived in this area during those early years up to and including 1926, then we want your family history included in these files. Drew was chartered in 1899 but those early pioneers lived in the area around Sandy Bayou as early as 1886.
Will you help us make this history complete?

Some of the families which we do not have, but we know lived here were:
STREET, BISHOP, NEWTON, EDWARDS, PERRY, BEEKS, DILLINGHAM, MAY, ROTH,
BURNEY, KENDRICK, MITCHELL, McCAFFERTY, RIDDELL, STANDEFER, SIGLER, MCGOWEN, MATTHEWS, SWEATT, HOWINGTON, SMITH (R.O.), SHAW, RICHARDSON, McBRIDE, SUDDUTH, SWAN, DUNAWAY, LYNCH, BURKS, BURCHELL, BRASSEL, BAILEY, HOUSTON, LOWE, KEEN, KERN, LYNCHARD, WELCH, MONAHAN, McVOY, HUFFSTICKLER, PHARRIS, KNIGHT, WATSON, BROWN, MARLOTT, WILKINSON, VANCE, and FITZGERALD.

If you think your ancestor might be one of these, please write and I will give you the full name and dates of birth and death so that you might determine if one of these are yours.

Thank you so much for your help.
