Civil War Reunion

This photo was taken at Dean's Church near Blue Mountain about 1900. If you can identify any of the men please email me.

This is a large picture and you will need to scroll to view the entire thing. If I reduced the size it would be difficult to make out the men.

The men who are known are:

Back row, second black man from the right: Tucker Spight. At the time of the war Tucker was the body servant (slave) of Capt. Thomas Spight, Co. B 34th Miss. Infantry. Tucker is credited with saving the life of Thomas during the battle of Atlanta. Capt. Spight was wounded and Tucker dragged him from the field during an active battle. He got medical aid from him and afterwards went around the country side hunting for clean bandages to dress his wounds. Tucker and Thomas were life long friends and attended reunions together. Tucker claimed to be a Confederate and in fact is buried in Ripley Cemetery with a Confederate maker. He also drew a pension for his service.

On the middle row, directly above the second hat on the front row, wearing a light hat with a dark band  is Capt. Thomas Spight.

On the front row near the middle with a bushy white beard and his hat on his knee:  Dr. William Edward Berry

Just above the seventh man from the right on the front row, wearing a dark hat and a bow tie:  Robert Lewis Yancey
