Obit for Mary Ellen Wagoner Transcribed for the WWW by Pamela Wagoner©1999 wagonerp@ohsu.edu Saturday, November 23, 1940 The Walla Walla Union Bulletin, Walla Walla, WA Mrs. Mary Ellen Wagoner; 79, of the Denney building, died Friday afternoon, soon after colIapsing on the sidewalk on West Main street, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney E.W. King reported. He said death apparently was caused by a heart attack. It was reported that Mrs. Wagoner, apparently out of breath, had inquired of a passer-by where the YWCA was located. A moment later she collapsed. She was carried into the Crescent Drug store, a doctor was summoned, and the fire department rushed to the store with a pulmotor. King, who arrived at the store soon after the doctor, said that Mrs. Wagoner apparently was dead when the doctor arrived. Born January 15, 1861 in Odessa, MO; she was married to the late Charies S. Wagoner in Odessa, October 7, 1884. The Wagoner family left Missouri in 1909, moving to the Fruitvale district vhere they lived for a short time before moving to Touchet about 22 years ago. Wagoner died here in 1922. Mrs. Wagoner had lived in Walla Walla for the past year. She was a member of the Pioneer Methodist church. Surviving her are seven children Lyman Wagoner, Delmar Wagoner, Mrs. Bonnie Inman and Mrs. Daisy Dixon, all of Touchet (Washington), Dewey L Wagoner, Zillah (Washington), Otto Wagoner Seattle, and Mrs. L. Graham, Pleasant Hill, MO; and three brothers, C. W. Sparks and W. W Sparks of Missouri and John Sparks of Oklahoma. Twenty-two grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive.
