Partial obituary of Joseph Henry Rothwell, submitted by grandson H. R. Ficken Mr J.H.Rothwell, one of the best known men in this section, passed away at 11:30 A.M. June 24,1929 at his home in Knob Noster after a long illness. Joseph Henry Rothwell, son of James C and Mary Ramsey Rothwell, was born Sep.25,1855. His parents were Virginians and settled on a farm 7 1/2 miles north of Knob Noster where the deceased was born and reared. He had 2 brothers and 4 sisters. One brother, Claiborn,of Warrensburg, and two sisters, Mrs Mattie Mayes of Warrensburg, and Mrs Nettie Gossett of Okla. survive him. On Feb.1,1883 he was united to marriage to Allena Frances Scruggs who survives him. To this union 5 children were born. Claiborn Franklin of Seattle, Washington, Joseph Ernest of Knob Noster, Wm. Lawrence , and Roy Lee deceased, Mrs Allena Frances Hamilton of St Louis, and Mrs Margaret Ficken of Macon, Mo. There are 6 Grandchildren: Kenneth Rothwell of Kansas City, Miss Erneeta Rothwell of Knob Noster, Ben and Frances Hamilton, Margaret Frances and Homer Rothwell Ficken. Shortly after his marriage, Mr Rothwell took over his father's farm which was his home until 1906 when he moved to Knob Noster, remaining there until his passing. Early in life he was converted and joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church . Funeral services were conducted biy C.J.Armengtrout of Warrensburg.
