Obituary of Mrs Allena F. Rothwell, from Knob Noster Gem, Vol LXIII, No XXIX, March 1, 1934: (Partial) Former Knob Noster Citizen Passes Away: Mrs Allena F. Rothwell passed away Feb. 20, 1934 at Framington, Mo. where she had been a short time following a nervous breakdown at the home of her daughter, Mrs B. O. Hamilton of St Louis. Allena Frances Scruggs, daughter of Margaret Stephens Honey and Rev. Allen Franklin Scruggs, was born Sept. 6, 1857 in Pettis County, Mo. Her parents had emigrated from Kentucky in 1856 and shortly moved to Johnson County, settling on a farm eight miles north of Knob Noster. She had two brothers, Dr. Eugene J. who passed away many years ago and C. M. Scruggs of Montserrat, who survives her, also four half sisters, two of whom survive - Mrs Mary D.Walker of LaMonte and Mrs Josephine Senior of Knob Noster. One half brother passed away many years ago and the late W. L. Honey was also a half brother. On Feb. 1, 1883 she was united in marriage to Joseph H. Rothwell, who passed away June 24, 1929. To this union six children were born: Claiborn Franklin of Seattle, Wash., Joseph Ernest of Knob Noster, W. Lawrence and Roy Lee deceased, Mrs Allena Francis Hamilton of St Louis, and Mrs Margaret Ficken of Macon, Mo. There are six grandchildren: Kenneth Rothwell of Kansas City, Mrs. Erneeta Rothwell Knaus, Knob Noster, Ben and Emily Francis Hamilton of St Louis, Margaret Frances and Homer Rothwell Ficken, Macon, Mo. There are four greatgrandchildren, children of Mr and Mrs Ezra Knaus. Early in life she united with the M. E. church South at Blackwater Chapel. Soon after her marriage she united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Bethel, six miles north of Knob Noster near her home. In 1906, she with her husband moved to Knob Noster. Funeral services were held Feb. 23 at the Presbyterian church. The pall bearers were A. M. Craig, George Gillum, Ernest Adams, Dr. J. E. Porter, J. C. Foster and O. F. Elliot. Among those attending the funeral from out of town were: Mrs Mattie Hayes, Mr and Mrs Luther Hunt, Mr. and Mrs F. L. Mayes, Mr and Mrs James Mayes, Mr and Mrs Chas. Mayes, Mrs Alice Rothwell, Mrs J. W. Hull, Mr and Mrs J. R. Rothwell, Mrs W. L. Jones, Mrs V. K. White, all of Warrensburg, Kenneth Rothwell of Kansas City, Mr and Mrs Frank L. Coffman and family of Sedalia, C. M. Marr. Funeral services will be held tomorrow for George C. Marr, a former Warrensburg resident who died Tuesday in Lakewood, Colo. The services will be in Capitol Mortuary's Chapel of the Angels in Lakewood. Burial will be in Blackwell, Okla. Mr. Marr was born in Warrensburg September 18, 1878. He was educated here, and moved to Colorado in 1944. He married the former Edith Beagle September 13, 1900, in Sedalia. She died in 1920. Survivors include a son, Raymond J. Marr, Denver, Colo.; six daughters, Miss Marie Marr and Mrs. Flossie Pike of Denver, Mrs. Gertrude Moore of Hoover City, Calif., Mrs. Neva Ross of Wifchita, Kan., Mrs. Gladys McGehee and Mrs. Evelyn Fultz of Blackwell, Okla.; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lillian Marr, 409 Franklin Street." Found among the notes of Oliver E. Marr: "George Clarence Marr was born in Warrensburg, Missouri, September 18, 1878. He was the fourth son of John Whitson Marr and Mattie Elvira Stephens. He grew up in Warrensburg and was united in marriage to Edith Beagle at Sedalia, Missouri. Mr. Marr, with his wife and two small children, moved to Hunnewell, Kansas in 1905 where he resided until moving to Bramen, Oklahoma in 1910. In 1914 he moved his family to Blackwell, Oklahoma. There he lived for about twenty-four years. He placed his membership in the Presbyterian Church, but later attended the Nazarene Church. He worked as a section hand on the railroad and also worked at the Atlas Glass Company in Blackwell, Oklahoma. After losing his wife, he moved his family out on a farm. In 1938 he returned to Warrensburg, Missouri, where he also farmed. In 1944 he moved to Denver, Colorado, and stayed in Denver until his death in 1964. He was an employee during the war at Remingtons, later going to work at Russell Stovers Candy Company, where he worked eleven years, retiring in 1957 at the age of 78 years. In politics he was a Republican. George Clarence Marr's first wife, Frances Edith Beagle, was the daughter of Ewell John Beagle and Roada Jane Harris. She was born in 1883 and died in 1920; buried at Blackwell, Oklahoma. George C. and Edith Beagle Marr were the parents of nine children: Ethel Mae Marr; Neva Catherine Marr, married John Blair Ross; Raymond John Marr, married Eva Cleo Trenary; Gertrude Deloma Marr, married Earl Wiliam Moore; Gladys Edna Marr, married #1-Marvin Wunderlick and #2-Charles C. McGehee; Flossie Rhoda Marr, married Glen Truman Pike; Walter Stephens Marr, married Iva Wells; Marie Beulah Marr, married Ira Simpson; and Evelyn Bernice Marr, married #1-Stephen Lute and #2-Kenneth Fultz. George C. Marr's second wife was Fannie Ethel Peppard, who was born in 1891 and died in 1957; buried at Blackwell, Oklahoma.
