ALICE LILLIAN WARREN Alice Lillian Warren, 84, Holden, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 15, 2001 at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. She was born November 23, 1916 in Blairstown, Missouri, the daughter of William Maxwell and Mary C.E. (Cox) Warner. On November 15, 1948 she married Louis Warren in Kingsville, Missouri. Mrs. Warren had lived in Blairstown, Garden City and the Medford communities all of her life. She had worked for Hipsh Tie Manufacturing, Beaumont Manufacturing, and Royal Manufacturing, all in Holden, and for JR Pruett Foundry in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. She had been a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church and later joined the Medford United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing softball and was an avid woodworker for 17 years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Surviving her passing are her husband, Louis Warren, of the home; one son, Doug Warren, Medford; one brother, Charlie Warner, Medford; one sister, Bess Tripp, Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Doyne Warren, May 2, 1993; and four brothers, Robert Warner, Clinton, Steve Warner, Medford, John Henry Warner, Shawnee Mound, and Albert Warner, Medford. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 18, 2001 at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home, Holden. Reverend Pat Kelley officiated. Pallbearers were Hubert Newman, Herb Danner, Eric Gustin, Mike Conner, Scott Strohmeyer, and Scott Anderson. Interment was at Medford Cemetery, Medford, Missouri. RUSSELL FRANKLIN MARTIN Russell Franklin Martin, 85, Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at the VA Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born Thursday, April 13, 1916 in Warrensburg the son of Earl W. and Nellie Floy Gardiner Martin. Mr. Martin was a 1937 College High School graduate and had attended the University of Missouri and Central Missouri State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the Marine Corps serving from 1937 to 1972. He had served in many areas including Okinawa and the Asiatic Pacific Area. Upon retiring from the military he was a plumber in the Warrensburg area. Mr. Martin was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a member of the VFW Post #2531, American Legion Post #131, Corinthian Lodge #265 A.F. & A.M. and the Boy Scout Council Troop #400, all of Warrensburg; and a member of the Ararat Shrine and the Odd Fellows. He had married Mildred Pollicove, Joy Jones and Lila Poe, all of which preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Eve Scontrino and husband Robert "A.J.", San Jose, CA; a step daughter, Glenda Poe, Kansas City, MO; a son, Richard Martin, Los Alamos, NM; three step sons, Greg Poe and wife Kathy, Kingsville; Steve Poe, McClouth, KS and Gary Poe, Kansas City, KS; two grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; a sister, Martha Henken, Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by a step daughter, Donna Snead, January of 2000, and four brothers, Jay, Raymond, Kenneth and Howard Martin. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 20, 2001 at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Warrensburg, under the direction of Williams Funeral Chapel. Rev. Rennee' Curtiss Meyer officiated. Organist was Arlene McAuley. Pallbearers were Leon Nace, Don Parsons, Bud Matthews, Dick Adams, Dale Williams, and Ed Stewart. SYLVIA DAIL (FARNSWORTH) JORDAN Sylvia Dail (Farnsworth) Jordan, 86, Parkville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born July 25, 1915 in Blairstown, Missouri, the daughter of Samuel Allen and Bertie Rockhill (Hixon) Farnsworth. On February 27, 1934 she married Alfred Vincent Jordan in Cleveland, Missouri. He preceded her in death April 22, 1995. They raised five children and were farmers in Carroll County, Missouri. In 1966 they moved to Parkville in Platte County, Missouri. There, she had worked at Park College until retiring in 1988. She had been a life long Missouri resident and was active in her church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by three sons, Marvin LaVerne Jordan, Overland Park, KS, Harold Dean Jordan, Parkville, MO, and Wayne Edward Jordan, Buford, GA; two daughters, Joan Chew, Ft. Worth, TX; and Joyce Hiskett, Parkville, MO; three brothers, Gilbert Farnsworth, Tatamy, PA, Fern Farnsworth, Independence, and Paul Farnsworth, Pleasant Hill; two sisters, Madge Bohannon, Citrus Heights, CA and Wanda Wiskur, Hugesville, MO; 10 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law and one grandson. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 20, 2001 at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home, Holden. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Farnsworth Family Cemetery. DONALD RAY HUTCHINGS Donald Ray Hutchings, 70, Holden, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2001, at his home in Holden. He was born March 22, 1931 in Latour, Missouri, the son of Cecil V. and Harriet (Chiddex) Hutchings. He had lived in the Latour and Holden communities all of his life. On February 23, 1977 he married Diana Phillips in Harrisonville, Missouri. Mr. Hutchings was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, and was a self employed mechanic. He is survived by his wife, Diana, of the home; three sons, Michael V. Hutchings, Warrensburg, Don Philip Hutchings, Warrensburg, and Clayton Ray Hutchings, of the home; four daughters, Melisa K. Clark, Shipley, FL, Sara Harriett Hutchings, Holden, Belinda Fay Hutchings, of the home, and Linda Katherine Hutchings, of the home; one brother, Henry Hutchings, Holden; four sisters, Bessie Sparks, Kansas City, KS, Sylvia VanGilder, Latour, Eunice Johnson, Latour, and Alice Gann, Sparta, IL; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Clyde, Cleo, Chester, Hubert and Cecil Fay Hutchings, and two sisters, Aletha Alley and Emma Florence Hutchings. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. LAURA B. CARTER Laura B. Carter, 93, Omaha, NE, passed away October 10, 2001, at Montclair Nursing Home. GEORGIA ELIZABETH (SPARKS) WHITSON Georgia Elizabeth (Sparks) Whitson, Kansas City, KS, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at home of cancer. Memorial services were held Sunday, September 30, 2001 at Charter Funerals/Kansas Chapel. Cremation. Georgia was born on January 1, 1926 to Ruby Pearl and George Sparks in Kansas City, MO. She grew up in Centerview and graduated from Centerview High School. She later moved to Cabool MO. She and Edison A. Whitson were married on March 6, 1946. Of this marriage two children were born, Edison Ray and Rhonda Gail. After living in Cabool a few years, they finally settled in Kansas City, KS. They were married for 55 years. Georgia worked for Taco Bell and Gitty-Up-Go for several years before retiring in 1999. In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded by her brother, Ray E. Sparks. Survivors include her husband, Edison Ray Whitson, of the home; son, Edison Ray Whitson and wife Cindy, Kansas City, KS; daughter, Rhonda Gail Hendricks, Kansas City, KS; grandchildren, Michele R. Wild, Mike and Brenda Davila, Michael and Janee Chambers, Steve Hendricks and David Whitson; five great grandchildren, Brittany, Noah, Harley, Breanna and Sebastian; sister-in-law, Benereen Sparks; cousins, Lucille Geary, Venita Woods, and Elsie Davis, Holden; and her dear friends who cared for her during her illness, Sally and Sandy Fields. Georgia will be greatly missed by all of her family, friends and Molly. J. M. MILLER J. M. Miller, 87, Sun City, Arizona, passed away Monday, October 22, 2001, the son of Fred and Fern Miller. Mr. Miller taught in Holden Schools for one year in 1934 as the Commerce teacher. His father Fred was mayor of Holden for several years. Mr. Miller married Louise Cantrell and they were the parents of three children. He is survived by two sons and one daughter. Services will be held in Arizona.
