GLADYS IRENE HOLBROOK Gladys Irene Holbrook, Kingsville, formerly of Odessa, passed away July 28, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital, Blue Springs. She was born March 23, 1943, in Maryville, the daughter of George C. Buck and Betty Buck. Mrs. Holbrook was a 1961 graduate of Odessa High School. Mrs. Holbrook was employed in the International Department of Commerce Bank, downtown Kansas City. She was a member of the Kingsville Community of Christ RLDS Church. Mrs. Holbrook was a past PTA officer, Mighty-Mo 4-H project leader, and Sunday School teacher for the Odessa RLDS congregation. She was an avid animal lover, and enjoyed collecting Roy Rogers memorabilia. She was a giving and caring person and a delight to those who knew her. Mrs. Holbrook was preceded in death by her parents, and leaves behind her loving family, her husband Clint Holbrook, of the home; her daughter, Betty Corlew Smith, Lexington, and her husband Glen; one step-son, Rick Holbrook, Lee's Summit, and his wife Christy; one grandson and three step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, Odessa, with Evangelist David Watson officiating. Burial will be at Odessa Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. JACKIE LEE COZAD Jackie Lee Cozad, 56, Centerview, passed away Friday, July 27, 2001 at her home. Jackie was born Friday, June 22, 1945 in Warrensburg, the daughter of J. Gilbert and Opal M. Barker Colster. She was a 1963 College High School graduate and received a two year degree in secretarial training from CMSU in 1965. Jackie worked for the Social Security Administration from 1965 to 1975 and from 1988 to June 2000 in Warrensburg. On August 27, 1971 she married William "Bill" Cozad in Warrensburg and he survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Andrea Cozad, Kansas City, MO; a son, Stephen Cozad, Centerview; her mother, Opal Colster, Centerview; two sisters, Linda Siegfried, Centerview and Kay Dolan, Warrensburg; three nephews; one niece; and two great nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Colster, July 20, 1994. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at Williams Funeral Chapel, Warrensburg. Burial was at Sunset Hill Cemetery,Warrensburg. Memorial contributions are suggested to Johnson County Hospice. PAULINE ROLPH Pauline Rolph, 74, Holden, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. She was born April 14, 1927 at Macks Creek, Missouri, the daughter of George M. and Sarah Elizabeth (Gardhner) Eidson. On August 3, 1956 she married Douglas D. Rolph in Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1985. Mrs. Rolph moved from Kansas City, Missouri to Kingsville, Missouri in 1960 and to Holden in 1971. She was a former member of the Kansas City Baptist Temple and was currently a member of the Holden Baptist Temple. She was a homemaker and had worked at Pratt and Whitney and Katz Drug Store in Kansas City. She had worked at the shirt factory in Pleasant Hill, at Holden Manufacturing Company in Holden, and at Unifemme in Warrensburg. She and her husband had owned and operated Farmers Cafe in Holden. Mrs. Rolph was a cook at Holden Manor Care Center for a few years, and was a volunteer at the Holden Senior Center the past several years. Surviving her passing are one son, Sam Pettigrew, Holden; three daughters, Juanita Moore, Mary Lou Carson, and Susie Warren, all of Holden; one brother, John Eidson, Grain Valley; 10 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. An infant daughter preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Friday, July 27, 2001 at Holden Baptist Temple under the direction of Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home. The Reverend Carl Rea officiated. Pallbearers were Danny Moore, Tyrel Bales, Bobby Warren, Russell Sechrest, Jeff Danner, and Josh Butler. Interment was at Holden Cemetery. PATRICIA RUTH MILES Patricia Ruth Miles, 69, of Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away on July 24, 2001 at Western Missouri Medical Center, Warrensburg. Born Patsy Dempster on March 18, 1932 to Ollie and Gladys Dempster in Tulsa, OK, she also attended high school and married there. She was a loving wife to Donald Edward Miles from 1951 until his untimely death in 1974. The couple lived alternately in Tulsa and Excelsior Springs. Patricia was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation, and was fond of collecting reminders of a rich heritage in which she actively participated in earlier years. She also enjoyed baking, and her contributions to holiday dinners were a long-standing tradition. She lived for years in Edwards, MO, and leaves many friends in the Lake of the Ozarks community. Patricia is survived by her brother, James Dempster of Eucha, OK; son, Donald Edward Miles, Jr., Independence; daughter, Teresa Lynn Miles, Warrensburg; and daughter Shelly Sue Kinnison, Centerview. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Shon Christopher Miles of Sterling, Va, Marcie Donielle Dempsey of Higginsville, Justin Morgan Miles of Warrensburg, Dustin Sage Kinnison of Centerview, and Michelle Dawn Kinnison of Centerview, Vickie Miles of Excelsior Springs, and John Miles of Kansas City, MO; and five great grandchildren. Her passing was preceded by that of her parents; brother, Robert Dempster; and infant son, Donald Russell Miles. Funeral services were held Friday, July 27, 2001 at Williams Funeral Chapel, Warrensburg. Officiants were Aaron and Jeanette Pack. Pallbearers were Danny Kinnison, Sr., Danny Kinnison, Jr., Dustin Kinnison, Shon Miles, Justin Miles, and Chris Campbell. Interment was at Crown Hill Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cherokee Nation Human Services. BYRON G. TROSPER, JR. Byron G. Trosper, Jr., 60, of Kansas City, MO, passed away July 23, 2001 in Crawfordsville, IN, while visiting his daughter. He was born August 27, 1940 in Kansas City, KS, the son of Byron G. Sr., and Lillian (Davis) Trosper. Mr. Trosper was a machinist for Brown Industries, Kansas City, MO. He coached little league baseball and Pop Warner football for several years in South Lake Tahoe, CA. He was a Ruskin High School, Kansas City, MO graduate. He is survived by one daughter, Diane Hollenbeck, Crawfordsville, IN; one son, Byron G. Trosper III, Sacramento, CA; his mother, Lillian Trosper, Kansas City, MO; a brother, Charles Trosper, Latour; two sisters, Sandra Melenson, Kansas City, MO and Patricia Powell, Belton, MO; and two grandchildren, Sarah Hollenbeck and Brooke. He was preceded in death by his father. A memorial service was held at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, IN with cremation following.
