SHARON KAY MARTIN LONG Sharon Kay Martin Long, 59, Pleasant Hill, died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at Research Medical Center. She was born June 15, 1942 in Jackson County, Missouri, the daughter of Warren Martin, Jr. and Virginia Viola Thomas Martin. She graduated from the Blue Springs, MO High School. She lived in Lee's Summit prior to moving to the farm near Kingsville in 1964. She and her husband moved to Pleasant Hill last March. Mrs. Long was a member of the Communications Workers of America Union and the Telephone Pioneers. She was co-owner of the OK Tire Store in Holden, in the 1960s and she and her husband owned the Swimming Pool in Holden prior to selling it in 1975. She also worked at the old Western Electric AT&T facility in Lee's Summit for 25 years prior to retiring in the early 1990s. On December 28, 1962 she married Kenneth Long in Miami, OK. He survives of the home. Also surviving are a son, Mike Long and his wife Sharon, Pleasant Hill; a daughter, Danyelle Collins and her husband Dan, Pleasant Hill; a sister, Mary Ann Hamilton, Cole Camp; and four grandchildren, Lacey and Tyler Collins and Cheyenne and Savannah Long. Funeral services were held Monday, July 16, 2001 at Stanley & Son Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill. Rev. Rob Vaughn officiated. Pallbearers were Steve Martin, Phillip Halsey, William Halsey, Charles Cutshall, James Hamilton, and Tyler Collins. Interment was at Barker Cemetery, Odessa SARAH RUTH ROACH Sarah Ruth Roach, Independence, passed away Friday, July 13, 2001, at Monterey Park Nursing Center, Independence. She was born March 17, 1915 in Versailles, Missouri, the daughter of Solomon and Emma (Oesch) Lehman. On March 8, 1941 she married Vernon Edgar Roach in Harrisonville. He preceded her in death March 1, 1997. Mrs. Roach had lived in Garden City, Missouri, before moving to Holden in 1951. She was a member of the Holden First United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She is survived by one son, Larry Roach and wife Carolyn, Greenwood; one daughter, Donna Piranio and husband Anthony, Oak Grove; one sister, Mary Lehman, Harrisonville; two grandchildren, Julie Wilson, Independence and Lori Boyle, St. Louis; and one great granddaughter, Caitlyn Rose Boyle, St. Louis. Funeral services were held Monday, July 16, 2001 at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home, Holden. Reverend Pat Kelley officiated. Pallbearers were Arthur Haun, Reeves Geary, John Pieron, Dale Corkran, Milford Cunningham, and James Boyle II. Interment was at Holden Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. JUNE L. GREUFE O'NEIL June L. Greufe O'Neil, 71, of Lee's Summit, formerly of Pleasant Hill, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at her home. She was born December 14, 1929 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Arlo Huntsman and Jenny England Huntsman. On March 13, 1954 she married Boniface J. Greufe in Pleasant Hill. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1972. She spent the first part of her life in Kansas City and moved to Pleasant Hill in 1954. She moved to Holden in the mid 1990s and to Lee's Summit three years ago. During the 1960s she was employed at the Burlington Mfg. Co. in Pleasant Hill. She was a supervisor with the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City from 1973 until 1993, when she retired. She was a member of the Kingsville Restoration Branch of Jesus Christ's Church in Kingsville. She is survived by a daughter, Teresa Miller, Raymore; three grandchildren, Eric and Adam Kennedy and James Haag; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 14, 2001 at the Kingsville Restoration Branch of Jesus Christ's Church, under the direction of Stanley & Son Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill. Elder Dale Volskay officiated. Pallbearers were Eric Kennedy, Jeremiah Snow, James Haag, Adam Kennedy, John Small III, and Vance Lee. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
