PEARL E. HOUX Pearl E. Houx, 81, Centerview, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2001 at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg. Mrs. Houx was born Tuesday, June 24, 1919 in Warrensburg, the daughter of Williams E. Lehnert and Marguerite Elizabeth Woods Lehnert. She had lived in Johnson County, Missouri all her life and was a 1937 Warrensburg High School graduate and had attended Central Missouri State Teachers College, Warrensburg. Mrs. Houx was a homemaker and farm wife. She attended Jacoby Chapel Church and at one time was a member of the Social Hour Community Club. On December 17, 1939 she married William Perry "Pete" Houx in Warrensburg. He survives of the home. Also surviving is a daughter, Donna June Eppright and her husband Bill, Centerview; son, Dennis R. Houx and wife Janice, Durant, OK; sister, Bertha Houx and husband Robert, Warrensburg; three grandchildren, Tim Taylor and wife, Diana, Centerview, Jodie Leigh McWilliams and husband Joey, Kingston, OK, Stephanie Lynn Houx, Sherman, TX; three great grandchildren, Travis Taylor, Centerview, Jacey and Jenna McWilliams, Kingston, OK. Funeral services were held Monday, April 9, 2001 at Williams Funeral Chapel, Warrensburg. Pastor Kevin O'Brien officiated. Music was by Frank and Nancy Hill. Pallbearers were Donn Blevins, Scott Simmons, Frank Hill, Ronnie Steelman, George Gaus, Dick Lohe. Honorary pallbearers were Chester Jacoby, Bill Turnbow, Glen Baile, J.C. Sutton, Osborne McMillen, and Scott Seigfried. Interment was at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Warrensburg. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Jacoby Chapel Church. MAYDEEN ELEANOR GRIFFIN Maydeen Eleanor Griffin, 84, Holden, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 6, 2001 at home. She was born April 20, 1916 in Alba, Missouri, the daughter of John Thomas and Elsie (Scott) Nutt. She was reared and educated in Knob Noster, Missouri, and graduated from Knob Noster High School. On October 26, 1960 she married Emmett Wade Griffin in Knob Noster. He preceded her in death July 7, 1982. Mrs. Griffin was a beautician and had a shop in Knob Noster and later in Raytown, Missouri. She had lived in Holden since 1986. She was a member of the Holden Congregation of the Community of Christ (formerly RLDS Church). She leaves a sister-in-law, Shirley Coultis, Edwards, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jay Sidney Nutt, and two sisters, Dortha Marie Ward, and Mary Maxine Yokley. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home, Holden. Pastor Jane Christenson and Elder Fred Christenson officiated. Pallbearers were Larry Nutt, David L. Nutt, Edward Yokley, Adrian Phelps, Bill Kinne, and Vern Rogers. Interment was at Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. VIRGINIA VAUGHAN Virginia Vaughan, 77, Holden, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2001 at Lee's Summit Hospital, Lee's Summit. She was born September 28, 1923, in Holden, Missouri, the daughter of Abraham Lincoln and Abitha Delina (Hall) Barnett. On January 12, 1942 she married Gerald Kenneth Vaughan in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death October 18, 2000. Mrs. Vaughan had lived in Holden most of her life. From 1962 until 1997 she had lived in Kansas City, Missouri. She returned to Holden in 1997. Mrs. Vaughan was a homemaker and a Methodist. She is survived by one son, Elmer K. Vaughan, Holden; one daughter, Mary Lou Carver, Holden; one sister, Irene Quandt, Stockton, CA; 10 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and numerous great and step great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, April 9, 2001 at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home, Holden. Pallbearers were the grandchildren. Music included "The Old Rugged Cross." Interment was at the Holden Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
