FLOSSIE R. HOUGH Flossie R. Hough, 62, Holden, Missouri, passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2001 at North Kansas City Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2001 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Holden. Father Isaias Powers will officiate and burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Holden. Memorial contributions are suggested to Friends of Powell Gardens or the American Cancer Society. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 28 at Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden. A visitation will follow from 7-9 p.m. at the chapel. Flossie was born Thursday, July 7, 1938 in Magnolia, Missouri, the daughter of Bill and Pearl Coskey Kassing. She had lived most of her life in the Holden area. Flossie graduated from Holden High School in 1956 and had attended Central Missouri State University at Warrensburg. She was a Member Service Advisor for West Central Electirc for 27 years. Flossie was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholice Church, its Altar Society, Holden Chamber of Commerce and a past president, Holden Fair Board and Friends of Powell Gardens. Survivors include three daughters, Michelle Piskulich, Rochester Hill, MI, Marie Murphee, Springfield, MO, and Cris Alward, Harrisonville; two sons, Phillip Marshall, Pinebrook, NJ, and Doyne Hough II, Ozark, MO; twelve grandchildren; her mother Pearl Kassing, Pleasant Grove, Utah; two brothers, Perry Kassing, Riverton, Utah and Dallas Kassing, Davis CA. WANITA MAE HARLOW SUMMITT Wanita Mae Harlow Summitt, 57, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO. She was born Saturday, Dec. 18, 1943, in Louisburg, KS. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Josephine Harlow. She graduated from Louisburg Rural High School in 1961. She had been a warranty claims manager for Major Cadillac and Cable Chevrolet in Kansas City. On September 4, 1982, she married Jack Summitt, Sr. near Forsythe, Missouri. She is survived by her husband, Jack of the home; two daughters, Lisa Chapman, Camdenton, and Leslie Sechrest and husband Doug, Holden, one step daughter, Jackie Wiggins and husband Rick, North Kansas City; one step son, Jack Summitt, Jr., North Kansas City; four grandchildren, Laurie and Mathew Chapman, Kandice Woodmansee, Jessica James, and five step grandchildren, Rachel, Ashley, and Brook Wiggins, Debbie and Michelle Sechrest, her mother Josephine Harlow, Mission Ks., one sister Vivian Robertson Springfield, two brothers, Robert Harlow, Mission Ks, and Sherman Harlow, Louisburg Ks. and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions to American Cancer Society. THOMAS LEROY MAXON,JR. Thomas LeRoy Maxon, Jr., 70, Holden, passed away Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, near Gravois Mills, Missouri. Mr. Maxon was born Wed., Mar. 26, 1930, in Indep. Mo, the son of Thomas LeRoy Maxon Sr. and Anna Wilma Welch Maxon. He was in the Army Air Coprs during WWII; a member of the RLDS Stone Church in Indep. Holden Masonic Lodge no 262 A.M.& F.M. 32 degree Mason in the Scottish Rite Bodies, Abdallah Shrine Kansas City, Holden American Legion No 90,Teamsters Local 41; and Elks Lodge Osage Community No. 2705. Mr. Maxon was a truck driver for Yellow Freight and had retired. He married Jeanne M. Sherman, Dec. 21, 1991 in Harrison AR and she survives of the home. Also surviving are a son, Thomas LeRoy Maxon III, Phoenix, AZ; two step sons, David L. Eskelin and wife Lisa, Middleville, MI, and James E. Eskelin, Kansas City, MO; step mother, Leona Maxon, Paola, KS. One grandson and one granddaughter. sister Carol A. D'ANN CAROL SHULL D'Ann Carol Shull, 43, of Kingsville, Missouri, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at the home of her parents, near Kingsville. She was born October 15, 1957, in Chicago, IL. the daughter of Gary Dee and Carol Joan (Juedes) Leslie. On March 9, 1979 D'Ann was united in marriage to Robert Allen Shull in Warrensburg, Missouri. D'Ann was employed as an accountant for Stahl Specialty Company, Kingsville, since 1979. She was a member of the Kingsville Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher for the children and a Girl's Auxiliary leader. D'Ann was also a member of the Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Kappa Nu Social Sorority. She was the Salutatorian of the 1975 graduating class of Kingsville High School and a 1979 graduate of Central Missouri State University with a degree in accounting. D'Ann was a seamstress, and sewed for her children's Halloween costumes and Lauren's queen dress for the Holden Fall Fiesta, a 4-H leader, a T-ball coach, PTA President and held other offices in the PTA and was the Kingsville City Clerk for 20 years. She liked being around people and enjoyed her family. She is survived by her husband, Bob Shull; two sons, Robert E. Shull and Ross Shull; a daughter, Lauren Shull, all of the home; her parents Gary and Carol Leslie, Kingsville; a brother, Matthew Leslie and wife Rita, Lee's Summit; three sisters, Dawn Nehring and husband David and Dixie Bush and husband Chris all of Kingsville, and Donna Wilson and husband Marty, Pleasant Hill. other relatives and many friends. Services were held Fri. Feb. 23, 2001 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Rev. John McRoy officiated. Music included, "It Is Well With My Soul," and "When a Man Loves A Woman." Pallbearers were Arthur Barnett, Bill McCloud, Randy McConville, Jim Gudde, Gene McCloud, and Ray Timmons. Honorary pallbearers were Kay Gudde, Alice Seaman, Linda McConville and Cindy Sherman.
