MARY ELIZABETH CHAPLIN GREEN Mary Elizabeth Chaplin Green, 82, Kingsville, Missouri (formerly of Kansas City, Missouri), passed away January 2, 2001 at her home. Mrs. Green was born July 2, 1918 in Healing Springs, VA, the daughter of Harvey Reese Chaplin, Sr. and Ellen Mustoe Chaplin. She graduated from William & Mary Extension with a degree in nursing. An Army Veteran of World War II she served as a nurse and attained the rank of Second Lieutenant. She was stationed in Australia and New Guinea where she met and later married her husband Louis S. Green in 1943. He preceded her in death in 1985. They moved to Kansas City in 1947 and she did private-duty nursing, primarily at Menorah and St. Lukes Hospitals. Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Baker and husband, Ben, Lake Winnebago, MO and Barbara DeLozier and husband Fred, Tulsa, OK; a son, Louis S. Green, Jr. Lafayette, CO; two sisters, Corilda Post, Indian Lake Estate, FL, Martha Burger, Whispering Pine, NC; a brother Harvey R. Chaplin, Jr. Charlottesville, NC; four grandchildren, Jason, Amy, Lydia and Thomas; and one great granddaughter, Madison. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 6, 2001 at Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden. Rev. John McRoy officiated. Pallbearers were Ben Baker, Jason Baker, Fred DeLozier, and Dennis Easterla. Interment was at Holden Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kingsville Baptist Church. MARY E. (TALLEY) CORNETT Mary E. (Talley) Cornett, of Holden, formerly of Sedalia, MO passed away Sunday, January 7 at Bothwell Regional Hospital in Sedalia. She was born September 27, 1922 in Holden, the daughter of Oscar and Claudia (Burris) Talley. Mary is survived by her husband, Grover Cornett, of Warrensburg; two sons, Jack Phelps and wife Pat, of Holden and Ron Aldridge and wife, Martha of Clinton; four grandchildren, Dennis Phelps and wife Edie; Dana Straka ans husband John, Denise Craig and husband Mark and Scott Aldridge and wife Dana; six great grandchildren, Patrick Woods, Joni Woods, Jamie Phelps, Jentry and Raegan Craig and Kaylen Aldridge. She is also survived by one sister, Sybil Hutchings, of Kansas City, and one brother, Glen Talley and wife, Ruth of Arlington Heights IL. She was preceded in death by one brother, Forrest Talley and a sister Ruth McGrath, and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held Wednesday, January 10, at 10 a.m. at Ewing Funeral Home in Sedalia. Interment will follow at the Holden Cemetery.
