MARGARET SMITH Margaret Smith, 61, of Marina , California, passed away Monday, July 10,2000, at her Seaside home. She was born December 22, 1938, in Salinas, she was a lifelong resident of Monterey County. On February 5, 1954, she married Elbert Smith in Seaside, California. Mrs. Smith worked for many years at Skyline Convalescent Hospital in Monterey, serving in many capacities including cook and housekeeper. She was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church, formerly First Southern Baptist Church, and she loved to cook, crochet, and take care of her family. Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, Brian Smith of Seaside; a daughter, Robin Sexson of Marina; on step son, William Smith, Medford, Oregon; a sister, Nina Serrano of Seaside; 10 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mary McConville and Betty Sexson, sisters- in - law of Margie Smith, attended the memorial service. Also attending were Don and Shirley Smith, Hayward, California; and J.D. and John Smith, Oregon. CHARLES LEANORD WHEELDON Charles Leanord Wheeldon, 69, of Clinton, Missouri, passed away July 21, 2000, at Golden Valley Hospital. Charles was born March 2, 1931 in Creighton, Missouri to Juinita and Riley Wheelson. After serving in the Korean War, Charles married Shirley Claypool on August 6, 1960. They then lived in Garden City, before moving to Kingsville with their four children, Debra,Tammy, Charles Andrew, and Amy. Charles was employed by Stahl Specialty Co. for many years. He retired from Stahls in 1988 and later moved to Higginsville and then to East Lynne. He had just recently moved to Clinton. Charles served many years in the American Legion Post in Garden City where he held many positions over the years His hobbies were fishing, picking up aluminum cans, and playing bingo. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Juinita and Riley Wheeldon and by his wife, Shirley Wheeldon; four sisters, Dorthy Moore, Monett, Missouri, Helen Wheeldon, Rosie Wheeldon, and Nina Wheeldon, all of Garden City; two brothers Joe Wheeldon, Garden City, and Bill Wheeldon, Latour. Charles was a great man who lived a good life and will be greatly missed by the rest of the family. He is leaving behind two sisters, Betty Thacker, Lucas, KS, and Dee Hudson, Marrionville, Missouri; three brothers, Bob Wheeldon, East Lynne, John Wheeldon, Garden City, and David Wheeldon, Garden City; three daughters, Debra Kenney, Independence, Tammy Wheeldon, Kingsville, and Amy Johnson of Rogers, AK; a son, Charles Andres, Clinton; thirteen grandchildren; and one great grandchild; many nieces and nephews and many friends.
